K/R Tildon Shoes

So, I missed the Cole Haan Skylar boat. By the time I willed up the courage to try something so "outrageous" they were all gone in my size.

So, I wanted to try the Tildon right away!

I want your real feedback, what you really truly think, and I am also interested in the following:
1. Do these need to be sockless? If so, they should go back. I live with winter (meaning snow) for 5 full months a year, with snowregularly creeping into 6-7 months. It has snowed here in October and we almost always get snow in April. We have gotten in May.

2. These are not leather, so I understand they won't "give". The fit is fine, but when I walk, the top "creases" and presses on my foot. For most people this would be no big deal, but I shattered my left foot and had to have it reconstructed. The pushing occassionaly causes a severe jolt of pain. Not sure if this goes away with wear.

Anyway, if these don't work for me, there are at least 1,000 more pairs on Zappos and at Nordies in my size!

I think I decided on "return" when you mentioned the "severe jolt of pain". Leather, baby, only ever leather. Or fabric.

they look great, but i'm worried about foot damage because of the non-leather. i wondered about blisters, but even occasional pain after major reconstructive surgery is not acceptable.

It has been 15 years since the surgery. It's just that it was a lot of surgery. Everything healed, and I walk without a limp, so I am not complaining!

still, i'm too old (young?) to wear uncomfortable shoes. this is my new motto. we'll see how that goes.

Hmm. I don't know. I think I'd hold out for something funky in real leather. Those look uncomfortable. What does DH think? He's always good for an honest critique!

DH said they were pretty until I winced when walking. He is bolder than i am. he loved the silver. He thought they should go back. He is in the guy camp that shoes should be comfy.

If they are not leather they will not give and soften up. The crease that is bothering you now will likely get worse and I hate the thought of you having foot pain after you have so nicely recovered. There are lots of shoes out there so I think the search should continue.

OK, they are gorgeous, BUT no amount of gorgeous is worth the foot pain.

Personally, I only wear real leather shoes.

Send them back! There are so many fabulous shoes out there to love, you can't keep shoes that hurt you. No matter how much you love them.

Honestly, even if they fit great, I'm not sure that I love them. They contain to very edgy elements: metallic color and very pointy toes. It seems like most of your clothes are very modern classic and feminine, and somehow those shoes (lovely as they are) seem very cyber-edgy. I would worry that they might be closet orphans for you!

I would return them. That pain does not sound good. I've learned the hard way about shoes like that!

I'm wondering if a more rounded toe Oxford might be a better fit with what we have seen of your style so far. I love the idea of metallic though! Keep looking, a better pair is out there!

LOVE these shoes, and I love the silver colour, too. But I have to agree with the majority and suggest you keep looking. Even occasional wincing pain is NOT okay, and you never know if you will break the shoes in or if they will break you instead!

These have been on my Wish List in two sizes. The pleather gives me pause, but they are so CUTE! If I get them, I would wear them with at least low cut tennie socks or footlets, if not socks or tights. I am basically a sock gal whether they are fashionable or not.

FWIW, my pleather booties are almost as comfortable as my Dansko booties, and definitely more comfortable than my two other leather booties, so I think it's all a matter of fit. My super spendy (for me) Dansko sandals that got stellar reviews for comfort is such agony on my right foot that no amount of stretching and add-on doodads seem to relieve the pain so I will have to ditch that $150 object of torture. Love my right shoe tho'!

Thistle, WINCING IS NO GOOD!!! Keep in mind that if merely walking around the house gives you a wince, what will REAL walking and running around do? I have so much footwear that is great around the house but turns difficult after more than two or three blocks of walking or four hours or whatever. Those shoes are cute (as are the Tildon booties!) so I know how you feel. A wince from pleather will NOT turn into fewer winces. : ( The best I can suggest is to try on all the left shoes Nordstrom has in stock to see if one is better than the others. [Uh, yes, I have been known to do this but on my right super fussy foot.] Good luck, knowing you may be kissing those babies good-bye.

They are super cute but if they aren't comfy they need to go back. I ordered a faux leather boot like that in December and it went back because synthetic shoes need to be perfect fitting because they have no give.

You are spot on K Can Shop, I do lean toward modern classic and feminine. These very well may have been on the way to orphans. Maybe silver in a feminine silhouette or very feminine color (loving mint green and ice blue at the moment) in an Oxford. Yup, I will keep looking.

Yeah! Actually, my friend just got a pair of lacy looking oxfords at DSW that I thought were super cut and seem much more like what I'd expect you would be able to wear and love to death. I don't think the quality on these is phenomenal, but they are very reasonable and might get you through until you find the perfect ones:

While I think these are unique and interesting, I envision something more feminine for your style. Definitely hunt for a pastel and silver shoe of some sort, that would be really perfect for you this spring. For an Oxford, I think a nude with some pretty details would be great to pair with your new dresses.

No, none of my others do. They are softer leather though.

They are going back. On the hunt for a more feminine silver shoe, and love Ks idea of one with a bit of pastel. Going to check out my local DSW too!

It sounds like you already decided but I thought I throw in my opinion....

I bought the Sam Edelman Petty booties and where the shoe creases at top of the foot (the suede is stitched together on the inside) really hurts when I walk; just like your shoes. I thought about trying to 'stretch' them but a friend said that the seam wouldn't stretch. So my long winded answer is return them.

FWIW, I bought the these Tildon Oxfords and love them. BUT I don't like the crease in the at top of the foot after just walking around a little bit. I plan to wear with (I have lots of crazy socks) and without socks.

I love the choices that the others have given you and agree that some of the more 'feminine' styles might fit better for you. I know you'll find the perfect spring shoe!

Yep, back they go. Shoes that cause pain shouldn't be welcome in our closets!

They look great on you - but I do not like the words "jolting pain" at all!!

Perhaps you need more supportive shoes - and these, as fun as they are (I have recommended them), do not offer any support. I mentioned the lack of support issue too. They are a $60 shoe.....

You seem to have come to the best conclusion. No matter how fab - uncomfortable shoes don't get enough wear, and they don't deserve a place in your wardrobe. Particularly not if you experience jolts of pain - ouch. I loved the look of them, though! You'll find a good replacement for sure.

They don't have a lot of support, Angie was correct on that. Honestly, they would probably be fine for almost anyone else. I just really loved them and had hoped they would work.

You would think I would learn. I was all nervous about snakeskin booties, and now I wear them at least once a week. I was all nervous about the Skylars. I mean, they were *silver*

I am sad these don't work, but perahps my lesson is now learned!

Whenever I have purchased a shoe with a little discomfort, that little bit has turned into a major annoyance at the very least, after a few hours. I vote return, as cute as they are. Keep looking!

What size and color are you looking for in the skylars? You will be surprised about the stuff we are able to unearth around here!

So, glad you are returning! They are adorable, but any pain should be respected!

Feet do not improve with age, and I think poor shoe choices along the way add more foot problems further down the road.
