K/R three from Anthropologie

My love for these pieces is sky high, but I am ready to listen if I need to be yanked out of the clouds. I'd have to return today if needed. Suggestions of any sort welcome.

Apologies for the pictures - haven't showered after exercising, my photographer didn't get up off of the couch, and we had a toddler and a baby "helping." I've styled as best I can with what I have on hand. Almost everything is has already arrived ahead of me at our new home.

1. Chevron Anthro skirt - also featuring a new brown belt, also up for consideration.

2. Same belt with a lighter weight, stripy skirt.

3. Without the belt.

Lyn* just bought that skirt too and wore it the past two weeks. I like it on you, but I think with a different top.

I really like the second skirt on you, and the belt is fab too!

I really like the second skirt. The belt looks great!

Not sure about the first skirt. Lyn bought it and shortened it and she is wearing it with tulle underneath. This pattern is very big and bold and a bit overwhelming. But with another top or a kitten heel it might look amazing, so that's not a nay...just a "needs careful styling" vote.

Also, as the voice of reason here....are these going to prevent you from buying something you need in your new fall capsule?

Ceit, yes, I saw lyn* in hers and rushed out to try it myself. They only had two left in the sale room, and one was my size!

Rachy, I thought I could get away with that top, too, but it's giving Ceit and Suz pause...

Suz, that is the quandary. I was thinking of the striped skirt for wearing to class while it's still warm out (severely limited wardrobe options for that period, too). I don't have a good feel for the weather up there, though, and how long it might be before Fall would set in and make that skirt too cool. I probably have two bottoms and five tops that are summer weight and in good enough shape for going to class.

The chevron skirt is heavier, with a tulle lining and an inner lining, too. If I keep it, I'd be saving it for cooler weather and would wear with a jacket of some kind. Or a sweater - I was thinking a sweater with a banded hem might work. Honestly, I wouldn't wear dainty heels with it. I'm thinking of pointy toed flats, oxfords, or maybe even boots. If it can't work that way, I should probably take it back, as hard as that would be. This skirt really has the highest happiness factor of anything I've had in a long time, but you're right that I need to make sure it's not taking the place of things I need more. Buying for a fantasy lifestyle, maybe? Or could I wear this to class and Mass, dress it up and down, etc., as I'm imagining?

Would you consider shortening your skirt? It took me about three hours to do (but I was slow). I think it would make it more versatile for winter wear.

So, if you love the skirt, you will make it work. I do find the pattern large and a bit overwhelming. Perhaps try a black top or a more bitter top to ground it before deciding.

Also, it would be converted to winter. Fleece lined tights, tall boots and a black sweater and it will stretch into the cooler months for sure.

Thistle, you are right, but maybe the pattern is too much for someone with a small wardrobe (frequent repeats). While I do like the pattern, I'll admit that it dominates a bit. If I wore this once a week, everyone would know it. I would be even happier if I could find the same skirt in a more subdued pattern. I'm really in love with the weight, drape, and pockets, not the chevrons.

I'm thinking that I'm going to return the chevrons and earmark that money for the perfect fall skirt. Weighty, box pleats, a-line, pockets, but maybe charcoal grey or something along those lines. 1940s coed?

It does sound as if you love it....which makes it a tough decision, since as Thistle says, if it's true love, there is usually a reason. I am sure you could wear it to mass and dressy events. It is more a question of versatility. So yeah....

Love the items, all three of them, but I think you have a great plan to admire, but not keep the chevron skirt and look for a fall skirt.

The blue top is so easy, but elegant.

I like the chevron skirt way better than the second skirt! I love patterns so I am not afraid of them. Wear what you love! Which one would make you happier wearing--the first skirt or the second? I have a black and white chevron pencil skirt and I would have no qualms wearing it frequently.

Natalie, you enabler! Now I'm leaning towards keep for dressy event capsule, if nothing else AND look for that more versatile fall skirt. Maybe I need to sleep on this.

I don't want to confuse the issue but I love the chevron skirt! To me it is much more interesting than the second one.

I like both skirts a lot! I do think the chevron skirt needs something with a stronger shoulder on top, like a blazer.

Yes! Why save it for special occasions? I don't think it looks too dressy at all. I'm a big fan of double duty clothes for both work and MOTG and dressing up or down with styling/accessories.

BTW, if you look back at my WIW - I do dress the skirt down with a t-shirt and a denim jacket I also dress it up with a nice blouse and blazer for work! Very versatile!

I'm not sure about #1, maybe because I have a poison eye for longer skirts because they make me look stumpy. But I love the shorter skirt, it looks cute and swingy.
