K/R; The twisted argyle sweater

Here's the sweater I picked up on sale at Nordie's yesterday, worn with my oxblood oxfords and ponte skinnies.

So I have these black skinnies and maroon skinnies, and I'm planning to upgrade my grey skinnies. That's three outfits right there. It fits with my colors and with my style uniform of tunic/long sweater and skinnies. I love the demented preppy plaid and the hi-lo hem.

Is it unflattering or too overwhelming? It's definitely not hiding my IT shape... Honest feedback welcome! And if it's a keep, other styling suggestions would be welcome also.

What happens if you don't scrunch the sleeves? I'm thinking that might add some "weight" lower in the look and possibly address the not-hiding-the-IT-ness.

I was also thinking along fashionista's lines, but I'd throw a mini underneath for a faux drop-waist dress look. If it's a colored skirt, it will draw the eye down as well.

All that to say, "keep." Demented prep is right up my alley.

Rae, that's an idea about the sleeves, though I scrunch all the time. I think some chunkier shoes or boots would also add balance. Ooh, great idea about the fauz dropwaist!

I was going to suggest a skirt, tights & boots - you could play with the colours in the top.

It looks awesome Una. I actually don't think it is too big, now that we have a better picture. I wish it was as long on me but nah.... I vote KEEP.
I always need cozy sweaters like this one once winter rolls around. Nothing better than a cozy sweater, skinnies or leggings, boots and warm socks when it's brutal outside!

I also think is OK to show your amazing shoulder line from time to time. That is your shape and it is beautiful.

This sweater just gets better. The second viewing shows clearly your IT figure --to great advantage IMO. I love the way the silhouette tapers from shoulder to hips - like these Miu Miu looks from 2011:

And given that the trend for power shoulders is still strong, the way the sweater shows off your shoulder line adds a nice bit of edge. The boat neckline seems fine too. It's interesting how this sweater is so current, and yet at the same time it's an eighties-influenced take on a geometric design from the sixties.

I returned mine but I like it on you - I tried mine on with white jeans and it totally worked - just a thought!

I like Rae's idea with the mini / faux-drop waist!

Two other ideas: a pendant / long necklace / scarf left long (to draw the eye down -- though this would push you into ALGO territory). Or play with the trouser silhouette in addition to the chunkier footwear (straight-legged, or if you want to play with volume, wide-legged).
