K/R: The Moto jacket arrived - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Guys!

The jacket that I ordered after this thread: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....large-bust arrived today.

I threw it on over what I was wearing, (light skinnies, banded tee, barefoot) and wasn't impressed. I was a bit letdown. I knew I'd promised pictures so I planned to take them in the evening while my little ones were occupied.

As I thought abt it, I wondered if the jacket would look better over a different outfit. The colors I wore were very light, not something I'd typically wear w the jacket anyway. Also the proportions were off w the short jacket over skinnies w no shoes. Not flattering on my body type.

Sooo, I changed into flares, threw on a tshirt for the pictures below. I also swiped on some lipgloss and a pair of earrings bc I was NOT practicing perfect polish earlier today! Hair included. Lol

I can zip the jacket over my bosom but it is snug. I zipped it half way and have included pics of what that looks like plus what the back looks like while half zipped. (5,6)

The jacket fits well over tees and my standard blouses. The sleeves are snug over bulky sweaters so I won't be able to layer over those.

My hubby says returning it "would be a mistake". What say you?

I think it looks really good unzipped, and it looks pretty good zipped partway, too, for those times when you want to wear it outside and not have it blowing open if it's cool. It could definitely work. If you like it, I say keep! Was your disappointment just because of what you tried it on with initially, or is there something that's going to bug you about the jacket?

Firecracker- thanks for the input. I was disappointed over how it looked w what I was wearing before. I'd been looking at pictures of Moto outfits; imagining how great I was going to look then I saw the jacket with my skinnies and bare feet. WOMP WOMP.

Only you know whether or not the jacket makes you happy and if you will wear it often. I agree with Firecracker that it looks good open and the leather looks lovely. Would the next larger size be worth trying to get more layering room?

This looks nice on you. How does it feel in the upper arms? I find my faux leather jacket is uncomfortable except in a narrow range of temperatures. How about you? My faux leather moto VEST gets worn a lot, however, in a much wider range of temps. Oh, and my (real) leather jacket barely gets worn because I live in a fairly mild climate and hardly ever wear real jackets.

Joy-I believe it has the potential for me to wear often. I'd like to. I like it so much better paired w volume on the bottom. I have purchased a few pairs of flares for this season so it could be the support act for those.
I may try a larger size in a different color.

Donna- the upper arms feel good. This is my first faux leather, so I don't know yet. I do have a black knit Moto vest that I rarely wear but I haven't donated it bc I like the idea of it, lol. I just don't wear vests much. But I love jackets so I don't believe the jacket would be orphaned.

I didn't look at the first post again yet, but I truly love this jacket on you. The color looks great on you. I think the fit and proportion of it works well with the items you've styled it with. Will it be versatile enough in your wardrobe?

First off, good for you for amping up the try-on outfit. I always make the mistake of trying on something that arrives, no matter what I am wearing (which is sometimes pajamas or workout gear). You really need to get ready for it.

I really like this jacket on you. The color is beautiful on you and I love the way it looks, especially open. I am afraid a larger size would not fit well in the shoulders, and the arms would be too long.

I think the questions are: is it comfortable to wear? is it versatile enough, given that you can't wear it over bulky sweaters? If the answers are yes, I'd be inclined to keep.

It does look like it fits pretty well, looks nice open but I like that you can zip of you want to. It seems like a bigger size would be too big around your middle. The color is pretty too. If you like it I would say keep.

Staysfit- Yes, I believe so. It fills a hole for the wardrobe I'd like to have

Viva- Yes! It made a remarkable difference in how the jacket looked to my eye. So glad I thought to change. It is comfortable and looks great over blouses of which make up a large number of my tops.

I do like the jacket. Looking at the pics w fresh eyes this morning, I think it can stay and play!

I think it looks great, and if it were an outfit jacket, I'd be voting yes. However, on your other thread, you said this was an outdoors-for-warmth jacket, and that's what gives me pause. You can only wear the thinnest of tops under it, and you only like it with your flares. Will that be enough for you with a "for warmth" jacket?

Liz- great points. The warmth factor, in a month, could become an issue. As it stands, generally my moments outside are typically short. Leave the car to go into a building sort of thing. I'll have to play it by ear honestly. The old trench hasn't been donated and is in workable condition so I could fall back to that.

If it becomes just a transition layer and outfit jacket, I'm ok with that.

It is a lovely jacket and I think it fits you very well. I would keep this size, I think one size up would mess up the shoulder fit which looks spot to me. And I like it with the metallic tee and flares, great outfit.

I like the jacket and the color is fantastic on you. Try it with a dress and boots too!

The jacket looks good on you. I think a jacket like this is a good piece to have, even if it won't take you through your coldest days. My black moto fits similarly- not over bulky knits, but I can fit it over a long sleeved tee or a hoodie. If I add a layer underneath, a scarf and books- it's actually a pretty warm outfit.
