K/R sweater--Is the fit good or bad-I'm not sure plus, new bag and scarf!

What do you think of the fit at the waist of this sweater? Would you be OK with the folding that is happening there? I can straighten out the sweater but it always rides up, as the picture shows.
I found it in the men's section at the GAP and it seems that men's sweaters are cut small at the waist (which kind of makes sense!).
This sweater is 100% cotton and will shrink up a bit.

I went on a major hunt for sweaters yesterday and found that they are all too thin for my style, or if they're not too thin, they have some detail that makes them NOT a basic/essential, which is what I'm looking for.

Pants: BR sloan (10 years old, I think)

I rather like the way the sweater blousons up at the waist. The fits looks pretty good elsewhere. You know, if you decide to keep it, what you could do when you first wash it is to stretch out the ribbed edge at the bottom widthways whilst it's still wet and let it dry like that. It'll then be less tight and stay put instead of riding up too high. You could also get the ribbed edge on the ironing board and pin it out wider, then steam it with the iron to set the rib wider too and take some of the 'spring' out of it.

Love the new scarf and bag! Gorgeous colours! Great outfits too.

I like the colors in the scarf best. I was thinking there is something too chunky looking about the sweater, or too textured maybe? I'm not sure. I can't exactly decide. The bag is gorgeous.

You're welcome Smittie. I have a cotton sweater that is the same and I always steam the rib out when I've washed it. Being a natural fibre it can handle it.

Both outfits are great, beautiful scarf and bag and I like them with the white shoes and ankle baring pants. I like white sweaters with texture/body so thumbs up on that too.

I like the fit of the sweater and prefer sweaters that gather in or have a tighter band at the bottom because then they are easier to place where I want on my waist, either resting on top of the belt buckles with a semi-tuck, or sitting at the right spot when I wear them with a skirt. I can also decide to hitch up one side a little if I need a bit of asymmetry. In general they have more structure. Straight hemmed sweaters that don't gather into the body at the bottom or have a band and end mid-hip aren't my favorite look unless I'm wearing a column of color.

I'm always washing my sweaters and trying to gather the bottom hem in when they dry so I get more of this effect Most sweaters loosen out a little with wear too, so that might give you a happy middle-ground.

I think the fold looks fine, and the suggestions to stretch it just a little when wet/ironing sound a good idea too.

I think it looks great as is! I have that issue with the band of a couple of sweaters, and it only bothers me if the blousing is excessive. This looks like a good fit on you. The outfit looks fantastic -- I love the colors, and the scarf and bag make the look.

I love the sweater on you. BUT I really love the scarf and the purse.

I stopped reading the text after the part about the men's section because I thought it might influence my reaction to the visuals. Completely unnecessary precaution because you look adorable.
The folding at the waist isn't a problem for me if it isn't for you and you look lovely from head to toe. It's even possible that the folding adds to that gamine sparkle and is a plus.

Staysfit - You're right that the ribbing is quite chunky. It is not feminine, and I generally like feminine looks. I'm hoping the scarf and bag add some prettiness. And I couldn't be happier with the watery, summery hues in the scarf. I thought you might like it too.
