K/R Stretch leather pencil skirt

I thought I'd give this pencil skirt a shot because it's stretch leather and can accommodate my curves. The stretchiness is a double-edge sword, however, because stretchy garments love to cling to saddlebags. An outside opinion would be most helpful here in helping me discern my own insecurities from what's flattering.

In the first series of photos (blush top) I'm wearing a size 12. I thought that was the better size until I noticed that after a few minutes of wear, the leather warms up considerably, altering the fit. Size 10, while tighter, seems to be more flattering to my eye because it sits higher on my waist and helps constrain what needs to be constrained.

Now that I generally have a crease along my hips in pencil skirts regardless of size, due in part to anterior pelvic tilt.

Thoughts? Yay/nay on both. I'm slowing becoming attached to the black on black outfit for a weekend wedding, but I don't want to remove the price tag just yet for fear of making a bad decision.

The alternative wedding outfit is a black suit in photo 9.

Yes, I think size 10 is more flattering, and it is very flattering. Is that what's shown in 6-8? You've create a perfect hourglass shape there.

I love the suit in #9.

I like the ft of the skirt in #5 and #6, but can't help but think that the fit will distort as you stride when the skirt creeps up your body. That style of skirt had a tendency to do that.

I think the size ten is the best. I rather like the blush top instead of the black (for a wedding) but I also like the suit. I think either would look great on you!

I share Angie's concern about how the fabrication will function in the more severely tapered pencil shape. I think a leather skirt would be fab, but I would look for a more skimming fit, doesn't have to be straight and not A-line, but just less severe and actually, not so reliant on stretch--yes it should "give," but the cut should do the heavy lifting on fit--I think it will translate more elegantly, and you won't be tugging or fussing.
i have a leather front/ponte back skirt that helped me with that issue, and I don't need another leather skirt, but if I were buying a new all- leather skirt I would look for that perfect fit as it would be a classic and should have some longevity .

I have a shape similar to yours and find pencil skirts so hard to fit. I do have better luck with ones that have an actual waistband- otherwise they seem to twist and ride up on me. Have you worn this skirt for 30 minutes, mimicking what you might be doing at the wedding and reception? Sometimes that helps me to see if it's going to be too fussy or if I'm going to be self conscious. If the wedding is this weekend and you decide against the skirt, I think pantsuit looks great and paired with a necklace or fun earrings would be a good choice. Good luck!

I took your advice and wore the skirt for 30min, sat down, walked around, etc. Besides the preliminary creasing, it surprisingly didn't ride up or crease further. I've been scouring the interwebs looking at celebrities wearing pencil skirts, and found creasing to be an issue with Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, etc. What distinguishes the lines that make a skirt look too tight vs the lines that form around the hips and rear? Even if I went up three sizes and took in the waist, I'm not sure the problem would be solved. It's a tough call because it doesn't look as refined as it could, but pencil skirts that hang and aren't body con tend to make me look dumpy.

Of the two sizesin the leather skirt, I think the smaller size is better on you. But much as I like leather skirts, I found myself really drawn to the suit in #9 on you - very elegant.

The suit is just out of this world. BTW, I don't see saddlebags at all, just the creases that bother me on Gwyneth et al.

I really like the smaller size; you have a fantastic figure why not wear these kinds of clothes while you can. If it doesn't ride up, my vote is yes! And even if you have to make an adjustment every once in a while, I'm ok with that kind of thing. I have almost never regretted a purchase of leather clothing.

The suit is classic and looks good too, but the leather skirt is head-turning.

The suit is gorgeous on you, and so is the skirt; I prefer the smaller size. The pantsuit and skirt have two different vibes--the pants more quiet and current, the skirt more sexy yet sophisticated.

I'm with Cocolion on this one! You can gracefully make an adjustment by stepping someplace out of the way and just run flat hands over the crease if it wrinkles up a bit.

You call them saddlebags, but what I see is a beautiful set of curves that make your waist look tiny.

I think the 10 looks better on you, for sure.

So here's a question for you: do you feel beautiful in the skirt? Do you feel happy with it on? (Okay, so two questions).
