K/R: Slouchy Pants, Take Two - YouLookFab Forum

A couple months ago (after lurking for quite a while at YLF), I was inspired to sign up for an actual account when I had a dilemma over a pair over slouchy pants. Some of you may remember the post of my Rag and Bone Wrap Pants, I received great feedback and the response was definitely mixed. I ended up sending the pants back, mostly because they were a bit big, and I would probably buy them if I ever came across them in a medium. I'll post a pic of them again (last image).

So the quest continued for the right pair of slouchy pants. I received these the other day, they are by Phillip Lim and they are navy. Like the others they have an elastic waist, lol, but these are made of silk (or at least a silk blend). I like them, the are comfortable and I'm leaning towards keep, but I would definitely value your opinion.

I'm not sure if this silhouette is my most flattering, but I really want a pair of these in my closet. I've tried them tucked and untucked, pulled lower and higher in these photos. Both tops are fairly roomy, and they I tried them with a more fitted T-shirt. Tell me what you think works best. Also with a pair of booties, and then a pair of heels. Did not love them with the gladiator sandals in the last image, but may try them with some loafers too. Would love your honest opinion on these!

I think they look great! I vote keep. The navy color is a season-spanner too.

As for specific feedback:

First of all, I like them tucked for a little waist definition. I've found that with these pants, a little tucking goes a long way.

As for the bottom drape, I prefer them with the shoes and/or sandals, or you could tuck them into the Newbury boots.

These trousers are fab on you Tina! Love the drape and just the right amount of ankle scrunch IMO. They work equally well with tops tucked and untucked, although I have slight preference for untucked (as in #1).

I also prefer them with the boot - seems a bit more edgy that way and gives you a gorgeous long leg line.

I vote to keep them and love them!

They are fab!! Keep I have a slight preference for untucked, but either way works I think. My one caveat is that I'm not so keen on the navy print top tucked. The tucking added to the matching of top and bottom - it makes me feel like there's a push to get away from the best part, the slouch.

I love the Philip Lim pants both ways! The Rag and Bone pants are too diaper like for my tastes. I am having a hard time embracing this slouchy pants look for myself. As a product of the 80's, all I can think of is "hammer pants" as in MC Hammer, google it. Howeever, I really love those Philip Lim pants on you...nice!

They look nice on you - I kind of prefer untucked or semi-tucked (love them with the simple white t and sandals. They def. have an 80's vibe but in a good way.

Great pants. You look like a model. Your stylings are great and I have a slight preference for the tucked versions. I like the high low from the side--perhaps half tuck it? Navy is such a great color--you must keep!

Keep! I think these are fantastic. I agree with Rachylou about the navy top though, 1 and 5 are miles better than 3.

Love these! To my eye, part of the success is tied to the soft drape of the fabric, more important event than the extra volume. The waist seems low, which I would think would be hard to wear, but they work beautifully on you! I like a partial or semi tuck best, but untucked works too!

I LOVE the first pair of pants!! A 10! All footwear options work to my eye. I like the high-low blouse with it best - #1.

GORGEOUS!! I want a pair of these, too. The navy is so fantastic and the drape so beautiful on you. You can definitely wear them. I prefer them with the boots. And I actually like them with all the tops.

I like the navy ones much, much better. Echoing Suz - gorgeous trousers! The drape is superb and the slouch is not over the top - I would love a pair for myself too! I alos like them with booties but they will also look great with pumps. All tops work IMO.

So glad I get to keep these!!! Was not relishing the thought of trying on a million pairs of same. I love that they are navy, will be super versatile. They also come in several other colours and a print which I may try when I'm in the US this weekend.

I'm looking at the pic of the first pants, and indeed they made me look miserable. And I can't fathom what happened to my hair that day.

Missey, you made me giggle, as I was a teen in the eighties as well, am well acquainted with hammer time. LOL. There definitely stems some difficulty wrapping my mind around this type of trousers.
