I received the Skargorn thorn jeans, which were inspired by the picture Ummlila posted below. I don't really know what's happening with me style-wise right now, kind of in a funky whirlwind .... but I am attracted to the inherent French-ness of this look, plus its American edge: dark rinse jeans, slight roll, pumps, white blouse, tough belt.
I went looking for jeans to help me replicate it.
These Skargorn Thorn jeans (thanks, Anna) are from Urban Outfitters and may do it. What do you think?
Pros: dark(er) rinse -- really nice black-blue color, thinner, crisper weight than my Nikkis, no holes, slightly higher rise than my other jeans (so different from them), nice looseness on the legs, fits my flat butt surprisingly well.
Cons: largish on the waist (not a big issue, but definitely a belt), similar cut to Nikkis (but not identical), slightly lighter on the thighs (should I wait for a completely dark pair?).
I could possibly wear them lower on the hips, which some might suggest, but because of the higher rise and stiffer material, it might be less comfortable because of a lot of material in the crotch.
I've tried them here with three different looks: rolled (a little too high for me, DD did it) with pumps and button-down; with sneakers and dalmatian top; with one big cuff, heeled booties, and black lace tee; and tucked into Frye harness booties with black crepe bomber.
Keep or return?
I'm also including a pic of the JCrew gray wool sweatpants, which I am definitely returning. They are fine but I just am not wowed. Not very flattering. Slightly itchy at waistband and on thighs, though material is softer than I expected. Meh.
