K/R Silver shoes: ETA: Going back

The JCrew silver loafers came in, and they are supremely comfortable. I also love them because they are super shiny silver and very substantial. But are they just awful and over-the-top obnoxious? I would need to be able to wear these to work, to justify the price. Be honest.

Do you think these are inappropriate for work for some reason? Personally, I love them. I might try to add another silver element such as earrings or necklace. I'd get them because my hair is silver, but I can't justify the price because I don't have a job to go to. But if I did, I'd wear these shoes at least three times per week!

The sporty look is very good for casual, and I like the Pleonie top and curator pants for work. I'm less keen on them with the dress.

My main question here is: what will you do with this look in October or November? Do you have some sweaters or blazers in mind? Socks?

Killer loafers. What is not to love? Modern, on trend, comfy and flattering.

YES. They are super shiny and dramatic. I wear oxfords that colour very frequently - you forget you are wearing them actually.

LOVE #1, #2 and #5. I really want to roll the pants in #4.

That said, consider Ummlila's question about how you would take them into Fall/Winter. I thought she brought up a point I hadn't considered and it could be important.

Oh no. As I thought would happen , I love them. Yes, they are shiny, no doubt about that, but soooo special. And great question though about wearing them into winter months - what socks situation would happen here? As in, what colour?

I am saved from these only because of the Canadian pricing . Just too expensive for a non-basic for me. I will live vicariously through you:

I have been in every single solitary shoe store in Winnipeg this week and last, and there is not a single pair of silver loafers or oxfords to be found (and I don't count the Forever 21's of the mall ) . I hope something appears soon!

What Angie says! I've been wearing my silver leather loafers (Towne Shoes) at least twice a week. With navy trousers, rolled white jeans, skirt with silver thread, etc. I forget about them...until someone stops me on the street to tell me what fab shoes I have!

I have shiny silver oxfords and I love them. The loafers are so pretty and they look great on you. I would wear the heck out of them while it's still warm. For fall, can you wear no show socks with them? Maybe put them away for winter and then bust them out in the spring with the first burst of warmth! I think they make a fab transitional shoe.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I don't know why I am hesitating over these shoes -- except perhaps that they are bright silver! haha. I'm just feeling a little self-conscious about them. I'm about 90% sure of keeping them. One challenge is that I have not been dressing much lately -- summer really kills my fashion vibe -- so they feel like a big, big leap forward. Your comments really help.

Angie: I appreciate hearing that I will stop thinking about how silver they are when they are on my feet. Also, the curator pant length / width is a bit of a problem for me, too. They're too short already to roll. I love their slouchiness but they are no longer my favorite pant.

Ummlila, Sterling, Lisap: I think the winter / sock question is a good one. I might try no-show socks until it gets too cold, and possibly Angie's famous nude fishnet knee-highs. But then, as Susie suggests, I think they will go back in the box until spring. I don't think I would wear these with tights or true socks.

Jaileen and Suz: I agree they would be great for work -- as long as I am entirely comfortable with them, if that makes any sense.

Jackie, Aida, Una: Thanks for the boosts. DDs really don't get these shoes at all.

As much as I love them, they are going back. They are just too expensive and are eating up too much of my budget.

I feel ya. I'd be ALL over them if they were less $$. That's the trouble with J Crew - it's not in the Zara price category but nor is it in the designer bridge range. It's a price range i have a hard time with because the bang for your buck isn't always there (esp w J Crew's hit and miss quality). Anyways, that's a lot for a pair of loafers, I agree. Trouble is, there is NOTHING in other lines out there right now! I'm obsessively looking.

So to distract myself, I just clicked order on a pair of navy patent leather booties from Zara. lol.

I would have already ordered them if they were not so expensive, so I understand completely. However, I've been looking around and haven't found any silver loafers that come close to these. I ordered the pewter loafers that Una recommended, but they were approximately 1/10 the price.

They are gorgeous shoes, but I totally understand, the price is just to steep.
I have these silver loafers, which are less shiny because the finish is not mirrored, and I have been enjoying them this summer. They are on big sale now.

Oh, there's a lot out there, believe me. Today alone, Tanya has already led me to try some black booties, and thanks to Lisap, I have just ordered a pair of navy tassel loafers from Zara. So no silver, but even if both of those pairs of shoes happen to work (and given recent luck that will be a miracle) -- I would still be $60 ahead.

ETA: Ordered Lisap's Zara navy patent booties to try too. So yeah, there are plenty of fish in the sea.
