Summer is making me realize I don't really have much in the way of sandals. I was returning a pair of flat sandals and tried on more at Nordstrom browsing the sale rack. After trying a bunch on, I realized that I only like sandals that cover a lot of the foot (esp near the toes), that have nothing in between my toes, and have an ankle strap. In other words, no bare thong flip flop type sandals. So the only one I found that was close at Nordstrom was this pair of Seychelles wedges (#1-5):

Now I realize that these are a bit higher than I wanted (listed as 3-3.5 inches depending on the website). And black may not be a good "summer" color--they do also make it in brown and multicolored, but I thought this would be the most versatile since it has both black and brown in it. But what do you think of these on me? Should I keep or return? Should I get the brown instead?

Would these sandals work for the following types of situations:
6. Casual--not sure these are the most practical MOTG shoes, or whether they are too dressy for casual outfits
7. Smart Casual
8. Work
9. Evening--I have one pair of Bandolino black evening sandals (#10-11), but they are a little more bare than I'd like. But are wedge heels incompatible with evening shoes? Which shoe is better for evening wear? Are the square toes on these old sandals dated?
