Holiday Party Outfit - Edited to Include New Pictures

I went looking for something to wear to my company's holiday party tomorrow. The invitation specified "holiday festive."

#1 - Is this combo silly? I was thinking of wearing them with my white pants. Perhaps I should return the sparkly top?

#2 - This combination isn't as comfortable as I'd hoped. The slippery shirt keeps coming untucked. I'm also not crazy about the belt, but it's the only one this size that I have.

I like the blouse and I like the sparkly top- just not sure i like them together. A whole outfit pic would definitely help me decide. Any chance of layering that sparkly top under a jacket?

Amy I like both! #1 is quite special. This could be a really dumb idea but how long is the blouse? If you untucked it would the hem dip below the hem of the sparkly top? I think this would look quite good and just make the combo a little mor cohesive IMHO.

Go with #1, Amy.

#2 looks great too, but if you feel like you need to be fussing with it while just standing in front of a mirror, you'll find it terribly distracting as the day wears on I fear.

Besides, #1's sparkle is more festive by miles!

I think they are both great but would be concerned that the vest in 2 might get very warm, and you mentioned that the shirt is fussy (and that without moving around likely). I would go with 1, I think it looks great and the sparkle touch is wonderful. Hope you have a great time at the party.

Another suggestion -- how would that sparkly top look under your smashing blue jacket (the one that Natalie also has)? I am not sure what bottoms would work in that case, but it strikes me as another potential option.

Thank you, everyone, for your help. After sleeping on it, I've decided that white pants are too fussy for me. I also don't think I'd wear the sparkly top all that often, so I'm going to return all of them. I'll work on replenishing my blouses and sweaters for work, which would be a much better investment for me.

I like outfit #1. For my work party, I wore a sparkle top such as this one, with a cardigan over it and a pair of trousers.

Oh no, returning white trousers! I though we would be twins! Mine are being made into straight legs now...but if they feel not right then you will not wear them and it is a wise choice.

I wore my tweed McGinn jacket with a black sheath dress. That jacket always makes me feel good. I'm glad I splurged on it.

You'll look great in your white trousers, I'm sure. They are very nice! I just realized how much making them work for me was stressing me out...especially considering that I need to walk along streets full of mud puddles on my way to work. That was a disaster waiting to happen.

This is what I mean. Out clothes should make us happy, not overly comprehensive and stressed out. I think you decided right.
(that's why mine are being tapered to straight legs - I can see myself wearing them in winter when it is not too much snow or mud but winter white wide legs - definitely dream life item!
Oh, and that jacket is truly gorgeous. I think I am going to splurge on a great jacket next year - it is a smart purchase.

That jacket is by far the best thing I have bought in years. Next fall, I'm going to buy fewer things. Maybe just one super nice thing that makes me feel like a million bucks.
