I'm having a hard time assessing the fit of these sandals. I purchased them after I took the falling apart Kelly & Katie's back to DSW. These are Sam Edelman's from Zappos (if I keep, hopefully they'll hold up better than my last pair of SE's).

My right foot is bigger than my left, so that is the foot in question. Which size looks best? My concern is the 8.5 might look too small from the side, while the 9's might look too big from the top.

Personally, I would go with 8.5 unless it feels too tight across the foot. I have the same sandals in different color from last year, and they have held up well.

I would go with how they FEEL. The look is going to be fine either way, I suspect. But is the arch in the right place in this size? That's always the issue for me.

Tanya and Suz, the 8.5 actually feels better than the 9 across the foot (I have narrow feet). I am always concerned about that darned side view, and that trips me up (really, that pun wasn't intended) in sandals. I don't want my toe to look like it's hanging off the shoe. I'm glad to know yours held up well.

Gorgeous sandals! I would go with whichever feels better. They both look fine to my eye, but I slightly favor the 9 as it looks like it better fits your right foot.

Cute shoes! The 8.5 looks like the best fit to me, unless it feels too tight. You're toes aren't even covering up the stitching. Many people wear a half size smaller in sandals than in a closed shoe because there are fewer "constraints" on the foot.

I prefer the 8.5. I have short toes so I am especially aware of extra length in the front so I think smaller size with less open space looks better.

You and Viva will be sandal twins! From the side they both look fine to me. The 9 looks a little long from the top view, but it looks like it fits your toes better. Your pinky toes look to be a little constrained in the 8.5 - but if they feel good to you - who am I to say?? They look like the perfect summer sandal.

Pil, it's actually the 8.5 that fits my toes better - the 9 is a little loose, thanks to my narrow feet. I didn't know VIva and I might be sandal twins

Susie, I really like the heel on these and the fact that it's a pretty simple sandal, nothing fancy other than the heel, and can be dressed up or down.

That's true, Claire, I often do go down a half size not only in a sandal but in any shoe that has a narrow fit to it. The narrow fit keeps my foot in place and not sliding forward, so the smaller size often fits better. These sandals are a medium width but they are cut narrower than most medium width sandals.

I sized up on a different SE sandal last year and have regretted it because of the extra length in front of my toe. I have these Trina's too!

I vote 8.5 too. The 9s look a little too big in the toes. And you still have some room in the 8.5 around the toes, just not as much.

If these are leather, they will probably stretch out also, which means you don't want them too loose to start.
