Oh Parsley, I have to break ranks and say I wonder how the smaller one would look? I just remember what happened in the 90s when we ended up with all these big coats and blazers.

I do love that color on you, to be sure. No problem there.

PS How old is this daughter and what do they know anyway?

Well I am on team oversized blue coats so of course this is a no-brainer for me - keep!

Parsley I love this coat. The sizing looks good to me, particularly if you will be layering under it. The colour is so incredibly perfect for you.

My only question is this:) This style coat is trending now, and as you mention it sounds like financially it's a bit of an investment. I would want to feel confident that I was going to get at least 5 years out of a good coat... do you feel this will stand the test of time style wise?

I'll cry if you don't keep this killer sensational coat, Marcy. I am so stealing it tonight.

Lol, we don't want to make Angie cry, so it looks like you MUST keep it

Oh my gosh. This coat is stunning on you and sized perfectly. If you can fit a blazer under it then I don't think you want it any smaller. I'm with the group that says you simply must keep this coat!

This is stunning on you! The color... Love it!

Thank you all SO much for your responses! Sorry I didn't answer right away- we had guests for dinner, so I was occupied.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your input! I'm pretty sure I'll be cutting the tags, but I just want to be sure.
My daughter who didn't like it is 34 years old, so not just some whippersnapper! But she and I don't really share the same style esthetic, so I do take her opinion with a grain of salt.

Karen, I liked the way the next size down looked over just a lightweight layer, and if that was all I would be wearing I'd have bought the smaller size. But I need a coat for our cold winters, when I'll be wearing bulky sweaters or jackets underneath, and this size is better for that. I definitely didn't want it to look tight or fitted. I'm looking for a fluid fit.

Deborah, you have a good point. It's hard to say whether this style will become dated quickly. I guess I'm willing to risk it. This is a nice enough coat that I'd be willing to have it tailored to be more fitted later, if need be.

Yay, Angie! I hoped you'd weigh in! I'm thrilled that you approve! I would never willingly make you cry!

Happy sigh....

This is just unbelievably beautiful on you.

Keep, wear, enjoy, and please take more pictures so we can enjoy it vicariously!

There - can't have both Angie and me crying! Wear this forever - it may not be a trend forever but to me it's still a timeless look.

What an amazing color!

Well yes, you could always have it tailored for a more slimming fit if you tire of the oversized look. I did something similar to a coat years ago, as the 80s turned into the 90s. The coat was an expensive wool with a very simple but oversized shape, and a great tailor took in the side seams. The result netted me a few more happy years....I culled it not too long ago.

OMG Parsley - late to this party but I die of happiness with you in that coat!! Stunning color!! Love the men's wear look and it is supposed to look like an "overcoat"!! Chic, Chic, chic!! Must keep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must wear!!! So fabulous on you!!!

Gorgeous color, perfect fit and incredibly flattering. Please keep!

What a beautiful coat on you!

Just had to echo everyone else that the coat is sensational on you! Cut the tags

You wear this style really well!
