K/R Roxanna's BR pants

I ordered these BR pants because they came recommended by Roxanna and were half price. I'm inclined to keep because they fit well (a miracle!), are comfortable, in a lovely wool mix yet fully lined and machine washable. The color is a nice change up from my usual grey & navy workwear trousers.

But are they an awkward length? I never had a pair of full length trousers come up short before - possibly these are meant to be cropped? Aren't they short to be 'the new full length'? I mean this is a practical length for me but I'm not sure if it works sartorially..,

What do you think?

I'm guessing that these are the new shorter full length. Do you have a pair of high-shaft booties with a bit of a heel that you could try with them?

I like the fit a lot, but I am no expert on length, curious what will Angie say.
I ended up not ordering them - was not sure if the color will fit with the rest of my wardrobe.

The fit looks nice enough, but I’m not a fan of this length. This length here is what I encounter a lot and it drives me nuts — it reminds me of wearing “floods” as a kid. A pair of high shaft boots would fill the gap, but even then, for my eye, they seem too short. But take my observation considering the source — I have trouble with the “ new full length” anyway. Yesterday I put on my Gap jeans from a while back that are shorter than usual (yet still longer than what you are showing here) and I just couldn’t wear them — they’re now in my holding zone for further consideration.

they fit nicely on you but the length in indeed a bit awkward. Is there any fabric inside that would allow to extend the length?

i think as these are the length is kind of awkward, but wonder if you should/could hem them maybe 1/2 inch or an inch shorter, so that they are cropped instead of short. Also i wonder if you have a boot with a higher shaft than the oxfords. I use my boots to “fill the gap” with shorter and cropped pants.

I’m feeling the combo of leg width and short length as not the best. Have you tried them with white sneakers like the model so they purposely look like ankle pants? Maybe the suggestion to shorten would work in that case?

So are they too short for heels and too long for flats?

They sounded like winners up until the bit about the length. If we all told you they are great, just how they should be, would you wear them happily? I would not.

Can you let the hem down to give you another inch? Currently they look too short which is such a shame because the fit is perfect and they are such a classic style.

I’m afraid I don’t like tgst length- on the model either.
They do come in Tall.

This is why I have trouble with pants for different seasons. When it’s the least bit chilly I like socks, and am not a big sock- exposer, so usually want pants to cover top of shoes. I have seen a few “ fun sock”- pant combinations I like- but mostly these are with sportier, often rolled- cuff looks.
The short boot- shaft over shorter pants look is fun and works for me visually but it’s harder to achieve that it seems- mainly because the boot shaft usually needs to fit snugly, and those back pull tabs can interfere, or the pants won’t fall and stay over the boots nicely.
So for me, that takes a HEWI boot plus the right pant hems— so not an easy mix-and - match wardrobe thing.
Your Oxfords are lovely so I’d wear them with either longer pants, like a classic menswear vibe, or something more intentionally cropped.
But, my “ eye” is a bit conservative in that way.

They certainly fit you beautifully, and they fall at the same place on the model, which makes me think the length is intentional. I have the same hesitation about that style of length. Even if it’s trending right now, to me it looks/feels too short. As a tall person, I’ve worn too many pants at that length without wanting to! Since they look so nice on you, I wonder if they could be altered to be either full length or ankle pants.

I also ordered these pants in tall and just got them. I tried them on but do not remember the length, except that they were not too long on 5’3” me. I was too distracted by how they worked with my glucose meter. The pants will be returned. They are not pull ons but have a front zipper, button and two hooks. The wool was incredibly itchy against my skin and the waist band hit right in the middle of the area where I wear my device. I am still looking for pull on wool pants but ready to give up.
I like your shoes in #1 but the pants look a bit short to be ideal.

Anchie, good call. Tans are indeed not your palette and Roxanna did say the dark grey was a different fabric composition.
Janet, I've never been into floor sweeping pants but these are shorter than I've ever tried except for a true cropped pant. I do understand your pickiness as you do full length so well.
Minaminu & windchime: good suggestion, will check if they can be lengthened. That would be a first for me!
Kkards, yes, thanks for adding the find! They do look the same on the model, hadn't really noticed before.
Cjh, good idea, but I have more need for full length than cropped trousers at this point.
FI, I like them with the cognac booties so could probably hzppily wear them if I had enough confirmation it's a look and not a bad fit :-D.
Bijou, hah! These would fit quite a different purpose but you may be right that there's more pants out there for me :).
Unfrumped, good idea. I've NEVER ordered tall before and do wonder if the rise wouldn't be wrong then )which is perfect with this pair).
Joy maybe you can chime in? I understand they didn't work for you. Do you usual order tall or was there a specific reason? Did these come up high on you?

The rise on the tall sizes will be slightly higher and sometimes overall feel could be looser/bigger. Lengthening seems to be a good option - consult the seamstress if there is enough fabric to work it out.

If you are loving them enough to keep them, I'd definitely wear them with a boot. Otherwise they strike me as a little too short for shoes.

I feel they are on the short side. Can you try with a sneaker as per the model? Otherwise they look great....

I am pedantic about pant lengths!

So FWIW, to my eye, these are either a little too short or a little too long. The new shorter full length has a hem that rests on the vamp of the shoe. Or you need to crop them more. Am also used to cooler colours on you. But otherwise a good fit.

I liked them a lot in the first picture and then saw the shortness issue in the others... it looks like tho that there is maybe some hem that could be let out?

Thanks everyone for chiming in further! I checked and it looks like there's enough fabric round the hem to lengthen them a bit... I will check with my mom who usually shortens my pants ;). If lengthening an inch or so is possible I'll keep, if not, return.
Angie, yes, I tend to wear cooler colors but am experimenting this year with mixing warmer and cooler tones. The color is best represented in pics 2 and 4 so not overly warm either. I think it works with the blush, burgundy and shades of purple in my wardrobe.

As a fellow member of the "traumatized by floods" club, I defer to Angie's keen eye for PPL. I personally do not like the length for me, but you may feel differently.

Leisbeth I had the exact same issue! I’m sorry - I should have pointed it out in my review. I ordered regular length abs bc I am 5’4” they were *just* long enough to wear with flats, which is what I will do (likely runners.)

For you, I would either shorten or lengthen so they look deliberate. I think lengthening is a good idea do you can wear them all winter! I also love that they are so comfortable abs fit like a dream- SO rare on me! Gosh you decided to try them out..

Nemosmom, how funny to hear of all those traumatized by too short pants. As a teen I felt criticized by the fashion industry because ALL pants were too long on me (I'm average height)
Roxanna, no worries, you pointed me to a great pair of pants. And it looks like my mom CAN lengthen them so yippie!

Try with midcalf boots, love them with a bit of block heel, pants look fitting so well-(aside the length-may be you could let out some length from the hem?).

I have not had good luck with lengthening pants. Even when there is enough fabric there tends to be a crease or line there. I would try hemming them a bit. I also think this style works best with flats like loafers or sneakers?
