K/R: Resort wear and Asian-inspired dress

Hi guys! I have a bunch of Keep and returns to ask you about so thanks in advance! I'm going to split it up into multiple threads so it doesn't get too confusing.

Here are the items to consider:
1-3. Kate Spade orange slice straw bag
Kate Spade yellow/orange sun hat
Tommy Bahama orange ombre maxi dress. It feels a little bare/revealing especially since I can't really wear it with a bra, but I would mostly only wear it on vacation in tropical destinations (I don't think I could get away with it here at home). I'm not totally attached to it though, so if it doesn't look good on me I'll return it.
Ugg Hazel sandals--I don't have any wedge sandals for spring, so I'll likely keep these unless you hate them.

4-6. Tahari black and raspberry dress from Nordstrom Rack. Size 6. It looks vaguely Asian-inspired which is kind of cool (I don't have anything similar). I'm not sure whether this type of neckline looks good on me--I'm more used to V necklines and wonder if it makes my shoulders look too broad? Also the top is a bit loose up near the armpits, but it looks OK when I have my arms down. Do you think this is wearable to work with a jacket or cardigan, or strictly a going out/date dress?

Ooh, that Asian-inspired dress is a definite keep from me. I really like the fit and the neckline - very demure bombshell IMO. I also love the wedges, but I'm lukewarm on the rest. If you really need it, then they are cute. My favorite i the sun hat.

Does the Asian-Inspired dress fit you well in the boobage area? I can't really tell too well - but I think it's shimmery fabric keeps it from being a work appropriate garment; although my psychiatry attending wore a white sparkle dress one day!!

I'm not sure about the resort wear - the bag reminds me of a slice of orange, which is kinda cute, but I'm not sure I'd wear it with an orange outfit, you know?

Love your Asian-inspired dress! I think it looks good on its own, and should certainly be possible to dress down for daytime with a simple jacket or cardi, or even a belted shirt. The colours are gorgeous on you, and I really like the neckline. It does accentuate your shoulders --- in a very flattering way I think!

Not so sure of the other dress, but such a fun bag and hat! They seem like they'd be stunning with summer neutrals like a plain white sundress, or jeans, or khakis... I actually rather like your nude wedges too.

well, I love the tropical outfit. What's wrong with looking like you're on vacation when you're on vacation! Don't people have barbecues and patio parties anymore?

I think the asian dress just looks so very lovely on you. it is perfect subtle bombshell, the colors are divine and the material sumptious. I also liked teh orange for fun in the sun! but might not use the bad with the other...but then again, I am not afraid of matchy matchy!

Lyn, I feel like it's slightly loose up top and could be taken in a bit under the armpit area. But to be totally honest, I'm lazy so I probably would just leave as is and keep my arms down! ;P

Or, I have a black cropped shrug from WHBM, I might put that on top to cover up that armpit area!

I nearly fell over when I saw that juicy sundrenched outfit! In thumbnail the bag looks like a giant orange slice. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the whole outfit. Amazing, larger than life, techno-boho brilliance that is a powerful spin away from your previous looks and yet has GP written all over it.

After that amazement, I cannot fairly assess the Asian inspired dress and will reserve my judgement on it for fear of hurting its feelings ^_^

I am shocked no-one else is barracking for the orange juice ensemble.

I could see you wearing this to a farmer's market, a festival, a fair, a concert, any fun outdoor summer event. I don't know about everyone else but in my neck of the woods you would be the envy of every quirky MOTG in sight!

I'm also pro orange ensemble. When I saw that picture I went, WOW she looks really cute on this! I'm not sure about practicality but you do look amazing.I like the dress also.

My 2 cents:

I like the orange outfit! Particularly the bag. I say "keep" if you feel fun and cute in it.

The sandals are really great!

The asian dress makes your shoulders look great! It'll need a better bra, so don't keep unless you have a strapless or will to get one soon (don't want that dress to languish!). And I think it isn't appropriate for work (as a physician). The shiney satin material puts it in the party or date category.

I like both outfits on you. As you say, the first is a vacation look and it will be fab at some wonderful beach resort. Sigh...as I watch the snow fall here...
The dress is super too, great colours, interesting print. The cut is very flattering to your shoulders - don't worry about that! I think you could wear it to work with a simple cardi over top.

The second dress I am lukewarm on. The color and style are both fabulous on you. But the fit of the bodice looks a bit off, and the shiny material makes any slight imperfections a lot more visible. It definitely looks evening-only to me.

Wherever you're going in #1 -- take me with you. Actually, in #2 you look like you could be going to a Shanghai supper club -- take me there too! I love the print in #2. I agree with Lyn that it would need a cover for work, but the dress is very much your signature style. As for 1 -- I vote to break up the elements. I think the dress works very well for resort wear on its own and will shine best that way. Now, Fruitfull's comments make me want to move to her neighborhood, and, if I remember corrrectly, you do live in SF, where everybody leaves their heart and wears flowers in their hair. So if you feel fab, go ALGO!

#1 looks like a fantasy outfit all together but I especially like the bag, wedges and hat for a vacation or farmer's market outfit. (I've got a poison eye for long daytime dresses, so take it for what it's worth).
#2 looks like it would just take minor alteration to look fabulous on you. Have Nordstrom's Rack do it. Now you get at least $100 worth of alterations a year with your card, depending on your level. For work, could you wear a black top over the dress so that it becomes the skirt?

the halter style with no support and the gathers sitting just under the breast does not do your girls justice. here or poolside.

that wedge is ok. better upclose but looks a bit mumsy from afar.

I love the wedges and the dress. What a yummy color and pattern and it looks lovely on you. You can do a cute cardi or jacket over it for office but it is really pretty as is!

I don't like the shoes, honestly - they look really mumsy and old-fashioned to me, sorry. The dresses are cute; I think the second one could be good for work with a cardigan or jacket.

I agree with BJ re: the girls in the orange dress. Can you tie the halter tighter? AlthoughI will also say I'm lukewarm on this dress because I feel like the hemline is too high for you, although this is a personal thing as I like my maxis dramatic and close to the floor!

I don't like the wedges. They look like an older style.

I love the hat and the bag! They're so cute and perfect for resort and summer wear!

And the second dress also looks fantastic on you!
