K/R: Pony Express Bag

Hello Fabbers!

1 & 2) WIW to church today. When I first started at YLF in 2009, sheath dresses were kind to me. Now we are no longer buddies.

It's been awhile since I found an LBD that I liked. During the winter sales, I found this heavy knit Joe Fresh fit and flare at JCPenny. I did size up one. (I don't know why I always forget that I can try outside of my usual size to get the right fit. They should post that on dressing room mirrors.)

3 & 4) So this is the bag I want to ask y'all about. I thought it would make a great sight-seeing bag. I like the cognac color, but I'm unsure of the size. Does it look too big for me?

Great dress - Joe Fresh indeed has some good stuff every once in awhile - and they do ponte pieces quite well. Love the design of the bag and the colour, but may I be honest in saying it does look too big for you? (proportion -wise)

Wow, that dress is a great fit and your sandals really look great with it.

I don't know about the bag. It is a great color and shape but it is remarkably flat. I wonder if you stuffed it whether it would look less flat.

Great church outfit AJ, the dress looks really good. I am also unsure about the bag. Could you shorten the strap and put some items in? It might look a little less overwhelming that way.

I love the dress! Perfect fit.

The bag is rather large, but not clownishly proportioned or anything. I feel like when I sightsee/travel I generally need a bigger bag than for everyday due to extra stuff I may not have in the car.

The dress is great on you! I think the bag is really cute. It does look a little large to me, though fitting so close to the body helps with the overall proportion, I think. But that makes me wonder how it will look with stuff in it, so I would definitely try it that way before deciding whether to keep.
I'm just the opposite of Kari--I like to have a small cross-body for travel, lightening my load to bare essentials on sightseeing days. (I carry a bigger bag on the plane and pack a smaller one for walking.)

Sorry it has taken me a bit to respond.

I quite like the fact that the bag lies flat. One thing I don't like about traditional crossbody purses is that they bounce on the hip and end up behind you or in front. Plus a thinner strap and smaller size tends to emphasize my mommy tummy. So the larger size of the bag drawing attention away from that area appealed to me. However, I do need to try it with my usual purse contents and a water bottle and see if I still like it. Will try to report back soon. Thanks everyone!

The dress looks wonderful on you. If your usual travel stuff fits well in the bag without disturbing the flat shape too much, you have a winner.

Love the bag, AJ. I think it might make a good travel bag for summer. I also carry water, and wish that bag makers included this feature in bags that aren't "gear!"

Gorgeous dress AJ! You look gorgeous. I really like the bag. I think the colour is yummy and I like the sleek style. As Joy said, if having some stuff in the bag doesn't affect the shape too much it's a winner...I agree.

What everyone else said - the dress is an absolute YES. I love the color and shape of the bag but you will need to try it full to see how it sits.

I really love the dress but I don't really think the bag goes with the style...
