K/R pink tulip skirt and white leather jacket

Return really means re-thrift but you get the idea. I just pulled out this skirt last week to try to wear and could not decide if it is worth keeping (I have had it for over 6 years and it has already earned its keep). In light of today's post, I decided it would be a topical time to ask. While I am at it, what do you think about this 70's white leather jacket I thrifted recently? Worth professionally cleaning?

I have to run soon but I will check back later. Please feel free to be frank - these are definitely expendable.

Shevia, I love your beautiful smile. The ankle strap pumps are my favorite of your shoe choices and I wonder if a cropped boxy top worn loose with the skirt would modernize it even more.
I'll leave the jacket to the experts, but the gathered pockets don't seem current to me.

To me, child of the 60's, this skirt is very hippy dippy. So far out that they'll be bringing it back any time now?

The skirt is interesting with the pattern mixing. 6 years, you say? Amazing. And of course it predated that, or you could not have thrifted it. Who is the maker?

I actually love it on you. It's longer than the current versions Angie has shown and I don't expect there is much to be done about that without ruining it. But for a breezy summer outfit, it's pretty, and looks great with the white shoes.

You look really good in the white jacket, but I fear that Joy is right about those pockets. Will be listening to wiser voices.

Suz this is a local Israeli designer that I like a lot (comme il faut). I always loved the colors and the pattern mix, but it did seem that its time had come and gone. Then with pink and longer tulip skirts trending I thought I had to check. I do think this is different than the sort of skirts Angie showed, but it is interesting how cyclical it all is.

With the jacket, I was also bothered by the sleeves, but in this case I wouldn't be trying to look current, if that makes sense. Thanks for your thoughts!

I like the cut of the skirt, but I am sorry to say I'm not a fan of the prints. Just a bit too sweet/hippy dippy IMHO. It doesn't seem to go with the streamlined style I've been seeing you sporting lately.

I'm also not sold on the jacket -- something about the tie waist and the pockets is not looking current to me either. I'm sorry to be a wet blanket!

I think the jacket could look modern streamlined (plus quirky with those anti-streamlined pockets) without the ties. How does it look with then untied? If they are coming from a seam line - which looks like they are - no big deal to break the stitching, remove them, and rejoin the seam by hand. What is the sleeve problem?

I find the jacket has a nice ironic edge... nod to current trends but wilfully retro-modern.

I have a sugar eye for this kind of skirt and that shade of pink, so really shouldn't comment. But I do feel it would be fun to pair a decidedly modern top--boxy, cropped, hi-lo, mesh, zippered, fluid sweater etc rather than a classic blouse, tee or buttondown.

I love the shape and length of the skirt, but I do not love the color and pattern. It seems too sweet and country-ish (in the american sense of the word), and also does not seem very you. It might be fun to toughen it up with black leather and stompy boots or something though.

I would prefer the jacket sans belt. Is it removable?

As an aside, I always called this style of skirt a trumpet skirt. In my mind, a tulip skirt is this (shaped like an upside down tulip):

Not loving the skirt. It feels dated to my eye, both the pattern and the length.

I am also not sold on the jacket, but I am no expert. It just doesn't have the streamlined vibe I see you in, but it is white. And I do so love white leather.

I love the skirt. It's fab with the white ankle straps and shirt in #3. You can wear it with black too. Black cross over blouse?

I'm less sure about the jacket. It's "cool", but the fit is not ideal. The belt positioning seems a little low. What do you think, Shevia?

Hello, I am going against the grain here. I love the jacket. I think it has a cool retro edge to it.
The skirt, sorry to say I don't like at all.

Thank you all so much! This is the most liberating thread I have ever posted- New Year's resolution: post more k/r threads! I truly appreciate your honesty and I find it fascinating how much opinion divided.

Anyway specifically.I am not glued to the jacket although I do think it is sort of cool or interesting because it is vintage. But I have quite a lot of cool or interesting vintage coats already that I like better. I think I will sell it.

The skirt is out of my normal range and but I am sort of intrigued with the idea of pairing it with black. Thanks Angie your suggestion really caught my imagination.

I am not going to mention everyone by name, but I truly appreciated each and every comment on this thread and learned a ton!

I like the skirt with the white shoes. You look soft and feminine. It is different than your other looks but looks good on you. Who said all of our looks had to be the same? I don't know about the white jacket. Did the waist need cinching in or like someone else said try ditching the belt. I'd work with it a little more before I gave it up as a loss cause. Vickie

Not super loving the skirt either just because I'm comparing it with some of your other oufits. De-sweetening it may be key as opposed to what might be the first thought of using summery white. I could see navy, or pewter metallic with it. For white, though, I wonder if you have a fluid fit but crisp white blouse that you might wear out, belted? Shorter and more fitted than the white jacket.
The jacket is a no-go to my eye in terms of fit and sizing for you, but I expect it's scrumptious to feel.
