I have a couple of nice wool coats, but they are all at least 5 years old and pretty classic/fitted. This season I am hoping to refresh my coat capsule with something more modern. I am yet to look for "the" new coat, something modern, on the looser side and very well made. But I have ordered two very inexpensive, fashion-forward coats to play and see how I like the new shapes. They are both thinner wool blends, lined and nicely made for the retailers they come from.
The first coat is a pink boucle cocoon from Express and this one is a definite keeper. I am only posting it here for comparison. It is neither fitted nor oversize, and it will go great with many items in my wardrobe.
The second, charcoal oversize from H&M is the one I am trying to decide about. I made a mistake and sizes up (to 6), so it is huge! This size definitely needs to go back, but I am wondering what do you overall think of this style for me. If it gets thumbs up, should I reorder it in one or two sizes smaller? It is very inexpensive and not an investment of any kind, just a way to dip my toes int he oversize coat trend, since I need a looser coat to wear over my chunky knitwear.

ETA: sadly, I have just noticed that the H&M coat is completely sold out in every single size, sigh... Still interested in your input on this shape on me, but it looks that exchange is not going to happen.
