K/R: OTK boots ETA Frye pics

I'd love your opinion on these. I bought the Frye version several years ago but ended up returning them (I think they were too early on in the trend for this late adopter.) I've had these in my basket since NAS and finally pulled the trigger.

ETA: I added pics I found of the Frye boots that I returned for comparison.

I like them, they look warm and comfortable and they seem to be good for walking in them. Are the soles non-slip?
I hope they feel as comfortable as they look.

You look totally cute in your outfits, but I'm not totally sure about the boot height…do they cover your knee completely? I did a quick pinterest search, and most of the boots were taller. However, two of the boots in this post http://youlookfab.com/2010/09/.....still-nay/ look to be about the height of yours. I'm no expert though, so I'm interested to know what others have to say!

These look like they end at the narrowest part of your leg, that is difficult to find in a tall boot, I vote keep!

I think they look ok with the pants, but a bit awkward with the skirt/dress since you can see the top of your knees still.

My first thought was "Are these really over-the-knee?" I do think they need to be taller. Sorry!

I agree that they need to be taller. They look like an awkward height - too tall to be knee boots, and too short to be OTK boots.

Thanks for the opinions. We are a little divided I really like them. They are extremely comfortable but I had doubts about the shaft height too. Angie described them in her NAS post as "just over the knee"--so I'm thinking these are probably just too tall for me.

If anyone else wants to chime in, feel free. I won't have time to pop these back in the mail until next week.

I think they work well with a skirt or dress, where you can actually see your knee so the boots look right. With the jeans on underneath, it's harder to make out are these OTK or just too tall on you? Which might take away intention which is always a key element to fashion.

They do look like great boots though. It could also be that we're not used to this kind of boot. It's a kind of boot that, as Angie described, is just at the knee cap. If we were to see more people wearing this height it might start to look right to us.

I wonder if Angie has an opinion on this -- specifically where are tall boots going next season. She looked at all of the runway shows and might have an opinion. The one thing I did notice is that tall boots were being worn more with bare legs and short skirts or shorts rather than over pants.

Thanks, Denise! I hope Angie chimes in. What I like about these versus the Fryes (besides the price) is that they aren't as heavy. One of the things about the Fryes were that they were so bulky. I think these are more streamlined but again, not sure about the height. Thanks for weighing in!

I will comment to give you a bump too! I like this pair better than the other one pictured as they appear to have a sleeker fit with less bunching around the ankle. I will defer to Angie on the height.

@Una: I wonder if they are too sleek and I need the volume to balance me out. I'm curious about the height though--as I recall, the tops of my knees showed in the Fryes too and those got a thumbs up.

Kelly, you don't look imbalanced (unbalanced just seems like the wrong word in any context!), at least to my eye. It's more the gap at the top - I feel like it almost needs to be even more sleek. But I am far from an OTK expert! In fact I am off to google some images.

Okay, after some consideration, I''ve decided to return. Opinions are divided but I think that just knowing that half of you consider them ill fitting will make me self conscious in real life. Knowing how my mind operates, I will worry that half the people I see on a daily basis will think my boots are too tall. Of course, I doubt most of the people I see would even notice or care but still, it would bother me. Thank you all so much for sharing your opinions on these. I'm content having tried them! I highly recommend for anyone over 5'3" because they are super comfy and seem to be well made! Great price now too.

Kelly, FWIW, I agree with your decision - they look like too tall knee-high boots to me, rather than OTK boots. And besides, now's the season to be thinking about slip-on sneakers and loafers and moccasins!

OTK boots are way outside the box for me, but I have to say that you look younger, slimmer and more beautiful than you did several years ago. You looked good then too, but super great today:-)
