K/R: Orange suede mary jane wedges

I found these wedges today, and I felt that they could fill a spot in my wardrobe for more playful and colorful accessories. I tend to buy only neutral shoes. But: I'm 44, a teacher ,(have to look like an adult at work to be distinguished from the teenagers, you know and my style is on the modern classic/natural side. I'm almost petite, and I'm of normal weight with a slight pear shape.

The shoes are on sale and didn't cost much, and I have several skirts, dresses and pants to combine them with.

My question: Are these shoes very trendy, and will they become unfashionable very shortly, or could they possibly be matched successfully with my more neutral and subdued outfits? I don't want to keep them if the are only a fad or too far off from my style.

I don't see them as super-trendy. I see them as shoes with a life of a few years. The wedge is not going away just yet and the mary jane is classic. The shoes do not have embellishments or hardware which could date them quickly, nor do they have an exaggerated toe box (as in super square or pointy). If they go with items in your fall wardrobe, why not keep them? They look nice to me.

Oh these are perfect! the super wedges that you see at like Bianca and the pumpkin pumps with the really round toe...those are too young according to 'fab at 50' ...but they gave exampes of wedges for 'eh hem' us, and these look perfect.

I think they are cute and fun! I think you should definitely keep them! Especially if they go with items already in your closet. They will jazz up a neutral outfit, too!

Since they weren't super-expensive, I think they are keepers. You need some modern to mix with your classic side, and these should be a fun addition. As long as they are comfortable for what you need to do at school, I think they're a perfect purchase!

FWIW, it sounds like our styles are very similar: modern classic with lots of neutrals (petite also to boot!) and I'd pop these into my closet in a heartbeat. I think they are a great color and it sounds like you've already thought through what to wear them with (don't forget cobalt blue!). If they are comfortable than I'd say they are a keep!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, ladies! I feel a lot more confident now. The wedges are pretty comfortable, and I think they will be okay for a day at work. I'm certainly keeping them now, and I'm planning to wear them next week (see photo)!

They are super cute shoes and if they are comfy in addition they are definitely keepers. I think they will work well for several seasons at least.

SUPER cute shoes. I think they will work perfectly in your wardrobe. Wedges are very comfy, add some much needed height to us shorter women, and yet are easy to wear. I love these and would wear them in a second.

As another, ahem, older instructor, I think interesting shoes that are still comfortable enough for a day's worth of standing are exactly what we need to keep our neutrals from becoming boring. The color is current, but the style is almost classic. I say YES!
