K/R: Olivia Moon blazer - YouLookFab Forum

Hi everyone, long time no see. Winter seems to send my interest in fashion into a dormant period. (Other than shoes -- *that* interest is evergreen, sadly.) With Spring here, I feel ready to elevate my work wardrobe a bit, and so I am on the hunt for comfortable blazers that are as easy to wear as my beloved merino hoodies.

I ordered these Olivia Moon knit blazers from Nordstrom, and they definitely meet my comfort requirements! I think I have the right size, but the body length is noticeably shorter on me than on the model in the Find. Does it work nonetheless?

I ordered the mauve/blush color on a whim. I like it in itself, but I've not worn this color before and I'm not sure whether I should. FWIW, I would not pair it with the red shirt in real life! Probably white or navy.

FWIW, the shoes are Dansko Louise oxford, also newish. I know others are considering them.

Runs With Scissors

Thanks everyone for the kind words and positive reinforcement. I went back to look at some of the models wearing the other colors on the Nordstrom site, and they fit more like mine, which helps too. Definitely different than my other blazers, but that's probably a good thing. I should try these with my (a-line to full) skirts. My other blazers definitely don't work with them, but these might.

I tried a couple of blush tops and a blazer last year, but they were instant, obvious "no"s, and left me wondering if there was a shade of blush that would work for me. Maybe this is it?

FWIW, these blazers are of a fairly heavy-weight knit, but not lined (though the seams are finished with bias tape inside).

Ooh, I like them both. Especially with the shoes. I am eying the black spacedye one. Did you get your regular size or size up? The one review indicates that they run small.

I like them. The sleeves are long enough which makes the body look deliberate to me and the shorter length might be easier to work with over skirts and dresses, like you said.

My immediate thought was that the model's blazer was a lot longer too but I think it's because the sleeves are pushed so far up her tiny little arms . . . that'd cut the circulation off in my hands with my arms!!

I do love this blazer though and would really like to see it with the skirts you're thinking about wearing them with . . . the "not as long as you expected" length may be just the ticket for them!

I think they should post the model's height so we can judge lengths. I think Zappos does sometimes, but Nordstrom should do it too. I think the jackets look good on you and will work great with skirts. The blush color looks nice on you, but the black looks nice echoing the color of your oxfords.

Looks great on you! I recently ordered the navy but had to send it back, so I'm jealous! It just didn't look right on me for some reason. Maybe the length was wrong on me.

Really the pink jacket looks rather good with the red striped top.

crst -- I got my normal size (S -- I can be a 4 or 6 in tops). If a top is too small on me, it will usually be in the upper back, or overall length. If it's too big, it's most likely to be in the armholes or overall torso width. I would say this jacket runs narrow through the torso (but not the upper back/shoulders) and for me that's a good thing.

I'm happy to hear more positive feedback on the pink: I feel confident in picking colors that contrast with my skin, but unsure about which lower-contrast colors work. So usually I just avoid them, which is a shame. I love all colors.

I wore a skirt yesterday and did quickly try on the jacket and I thought the proportions were good enough. I didn't think to get a picture -- maybe next time.
