K/R: Olive satin cargo pants - YouLookFab Forum

OK, have I lost my mind?
I'm liking my black Eileen Fisher slouchy silk pants so much, and wearing them all the time, I thought I might like another pair of slouchy pants. I was wanting something a little bit fun and funky for going out to dinner.
So I saw these Zara olive green satin cargo pants with elastic cuffs with zippers and thought they might work.

They are maybe a little bit shorter than I would like, but they are supposed to be ankle pants. They're very lightweight and slouchy, although I'm realizing I could wear them a little lower on my hips than I did in these pictures.

I've tried styling them a couple of different ways: one more casual and one a little dressier. They're sort of hard to photograph, because with flash they look much shinier than they really are.

So please tell me honestly- are they too unflattering? too young? too short? just a stupid idea? I appreciate your input!

I love them on you and the way you've styled them in each of the pictures. I don't mind the length but as you say you could wear them lower on the hips as the model is.

I love olive pants! These are shorter and without the scrunch of long pants, but are tapered. I prefer this look and the dressier fabrication to the straighter, typical cropped cotton pants. The somewhat dressy sandals lengthen the legline. I say go for it!

Hm I'd prefer the cuff to be more fitted to your leg like how the model shows which would give you a bit more blouson at the hem. But they're fun and I like them! I vote try to wear them a bit lower so the hem falls lower, OR push the cuff up so we see a bit more ankle. Nice stylings here too, especially the second. Can we see #1 without the jacket? The lace/camo pairing is so super, and the denim jacket takes away from it a bit. But the denim/silky combo is also super so I'd prefer another type of top with that pairing.

You are KILLING it in #3! I ADORE these on you!! Definitely keep. My only recommendation is that the jacket in the first outfit looks too traditional for these. I'd like to see a more cropped jacket, and/or a more fashion-forward denim (acid wash, destroyed, light wash, etc.)

I love them on you! In fact, they are 8 million times better on you than on the Zara model. I like how you've styled them here too.

I think the length you have shown is fine with heels, but if you slouched them lower you might be able to wear other shoes as well.

I tried wearing them a little lower, and they are better that way. (sorry, don't have a picture)

Aida, I won't wear the first one without the jacket- that top is sleeveless and not attractive from the back (just sheer knit).

Jenava, I'll have to play around and see if I have a different jacket that will work with them.

I wish that people who vote Nay would tell me what they're thinking! I need to hear the negatives, too. I really am asking for frankness. Thanks!

bj- they have zippers at the cuffs, so I don't think I can roll them up, and pushing them up on my calves more makes the zippers stick out funny.

Gotcha. Then I'm in agreement with Jenava on a more cropped jacket

I have tried those cargos and can't get them out of my mind. I would size down. I did hike up the cuff, since they have an elastic there. They looked really cool that way.

I'll have to try again with them pushed up and see if I can make it work.

I think these would be a fun addition to your slouchy pant capsule. Not sure on PPL, but it looks like the others have you sorted there. PPL is something I am still trying to learn!

Yay! I'm so glad you like them, Angie, because I tore the tags off and wore a variation of outfit #3 last night to go out to dinner! I changed out the sandals for some stiletto-heel black pumps, and wore a lizard dog collar cuff bracelet. Got lots of compliments!

Parsley, I voted yay, too, and love the olive satin pants on you, especially with the black (great color combination!). Knowing that you wear the heck out of your EF silk pants, it makes perfect sense to grab these and in a color that suits you.
