All the jackets that I ordered from Nordie's last week have arrived! Please note, I'm not asking you to compare these three jackets. They are obviously very different and will serve different purposes. Hence I can keep all, or some, or none.
First up is the navy Heed lace jacket. I sized up as per Angie's and reviewer's comments, and the fit seems good. It also feels comfortable on. I would probably usually wear this open or with one hook closed only. When it's closed all the way, it's too buttoned up for me, plus there is the dreaded bust gape (I could easily add an extra hook to fix that though). What do you think of this neckline style on me? I usually prefer something with lapels and am unsure whether I like this neckline.
Next is the Free People distressed tapestry moto. I think I have a sugar eye for tapestry prints, especially more vibrant colored ones like this one. I really like the way it looks open but is too long (once again, remember the teal motos?) in the torso when closed, which makes the bottom too tight as it hits at the high hip and not the waist. I would not want to size up as the shoulders on this one are already loose. The material is pretty heavy so I think it would be like an early fall/late spring outerwear jacket, but it is flexible/soft enough that I might be able to wear it indoors in winter as well. So maybe I never need to close it?
Finally, we have the Max&Mia plaid riding jacket. The fit feels very good to me and the length is good too. The colors are off in the photos but it is a slightly tweedy looking black background with beige and burgundy plaid, plus it has dark brown faux leather accents (including elbow patches!). I did size up based on reviewer comments and general comments that this brand runs small. It is slightly roomy, but the buckles at the back are adjustable, so I cinched them in at the waist a bit and it was perfect. I think the ability to tighten the waist also helped mitigate the fact that double breasted styles are not the best on me.
