K/R Nordies Dresses

So, here is the part of my Nordies dress order that even made it to consideration. A couple did not as they were beautiful onthe hanger, but I did not feel comfortable in them. Way too body con.

So, these are the remainder:

Pic #1 - Vince Camuto dress - I love it, except I think I need to size down. I don't think the top is supposed to flop like that (first time in a while the "girls" haven't filled out a top!) DH loved it except for how the top flopped over the belt. He felt that looked "senior" Here is how it looked on the model http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/vi.....ltback=878

Pic#2 Isaac Mizrah dress - I think is going back. DH said: "I have seen you in better" I was not feeling fab in it before . . .

Pic#3 - Nic and Zoe dress - I want to love it, but I think the length combined with the unstructured material does me no favors. While another wrap dress would be a repeat, I think it would look far more fab.

I am always open to your comments! I am trying to learn this so I become better at figuring this out on my own! I may be totally wrong on all of these, especially as I am trying them on as we hunker down in a snowstorm.

Keep keep and keep. (sounds like a bird!) They all fit beautifully. I especially love #1

I like 1 and 3. It's hard to tell from the photo that 1 doesn't fit properly. Try the smaller size on 1 and compare? I like how 3 looks, but I'm not a personal fan of a draped neckline (I would kill to find more dresses at that length for me though). Otherwise Nordies does great alterations. I agree with your hubby on 2 - return for sure.

Love #1 - beautiful shape and colour for you. I agree that you might want to size down. Conversely, you can always have the top tailored on the larger size if the rest of it fits well.

Love #3 - beautiful colours and pattern.

#2 - I find the colours not as flattering as the other two. I think I would pass on this one.

You're getting such a lovely collection of dresses Thistle!

I really like #1 and the color is very nice on you. I agree that the color in #2 isn't great so I think this may be a pass. I like the color of #3 and the cut is nice but if it was a decision between 1 and 3, I would choose 1.

I definitely like #1 the best. Did you see in the model pic how it flops on her, too? They just moved it off to the side somehow. If you can't make peace with the flop, then I think I vote to return all. You have set a high standard with your other dresses.

I'm with Dianthus. I think 1 is lovely, and would be great to try on in a smaller size. I really like 3 too. 2 should go back in my opinion. You lovely figure really does look fantastic in these fit and flare dresses, Thistle!!!

Love #1, definetly a keeper. Not fond of #2, and #3 is ok.

I think one and three are fabulous. Great patterns, great shapes, and different more some of the other dresses in your closet. I am never a great person to asses anything striped, they are so tricky for me. I see myself in stripes and I absolutely cringe. That being said, it is not nearly as fabulous as the other two.

You have really found your niche with dresses Thistle, you look wonderful!

# 1 for sure, maybe # 2 because of the colors that are great on you and very versatile; the stripes are not fab. I think you look a lot better in medium.prints.
Bristle,I have # 1--see MOTB post- and sized down and am resizing down again. The top is supposed to be blousy, so it will look a lot different than a fitted wrap,but it can get sloppy as well and I am pear too. But if my smaller size loses too much in the hip zone and doesn't drape as well, I will.keep.the larger size and have it taken up. It has a back zipper and side seams, so I think that would work. I know you are having a hard time finding a tailor.

#1 is a keeper. you look so svelte in this especially with the pointy flat. extends the leg line and very on trend.

must keep or you will be in trouble!

agree that the others must go back. that last one is not good enough for you anymore.

Keep #1, but also show us how it looks sized down. It was blousey on the model, so the current size may be the one. The dress has a fresh, youthful look that I really like on you.

I find stripey dresses difficult to wear, and I have a poison eye for the type of belt in #3, although I suppose you could swap it out. Otherwise, I like it on you, but I'm not swooning as I am over #1.

#1 looks gorgeous on you - great colour and print, fun, swirly shape and perfect length. Size down if you need to, or have it altered, but I LOVE the dress. #3 is my second choice, although I am not sure it is worth it given the high bar set by your other dresses.

#2 isn't working, and I think it is the stripes and the different angles. I have almost never seen stripes and dresses like this work on anyone, regardless of size or shape. It just isn't a pattern placement that works for a lot of people, IMO.

#1 is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! By all means try a size down.

I also vote return the other two. You have set a high bar with frocks, Thistle!

Looked at #1 and just said to myself: "Oh I love that!" I think that is your size, I would not change a thing. I like #3 also, but 1 is just so wonderful!

I never fill out the tops of dresses, but try pulling it up an inch or so at the shoulders to see if that does the trick. It's an easy, inexpensive alteration to do.

#1 is amazing! I agree that maybe you should try a smaller size, but I also think that this one could probably be tailored easily to fix the top. Is there any room in the armholes? If so, you could try lifting the shoulder slightly to see if that improves the fit. This is easy for a tailor to fix. Or I think they could add some darts to take in the sides as well.

I don't love the other 2 as much, so I vote return.

I think Joy is on to something with the shoulder alteration on 1. *Such* a pretty dress! Like Jjsloane, I don't love draped necklies as much as others, at least for me. Bending down reveals too much.

I am definitely keeping #1. I have put in a order for a size down and I will show you all when it arrives.

#2 and #3 are going back I think. The black and white feels harsh against my coloring, and I don't think it is flattering to my figure. I am not in love with #3. Had #1 not been in the box, maybe, but I think all my dresses at this point should at least come close to what I felt about #1.

The first thing I thought when I opened the thread was KEEP #1. It is GORGEOUS on you. The second thing I thought was, HEY, that's the dress Unfrumped showed us and it is supposed to be blouson style. But if it is too much, by all means size down and if necessary, alter. This dress leaves the other two in the dust, IMO, and is a nice change from the wrap for you.

Chiming in late to say, first of all I LOVE THOSE SHOES! Ahem. Sorry.

I love the first dress, love, love love! The third dress (only you know how it *feels*) looks very good on you as well. That print is very modern, yet the soft colors compliment your complexion really well. If you send it back, maybe you can find something else in that color scheme because it's SO pretty on you.

Chiming in again to say how much I admire your discipline in keeping just the best items. It is really paying off.
And your focus is a good inspiration to me. I felt that dress just had that certain something that I was looking for in a dress--VC just got it right somehow and you can feel it in how the skirt moves when you walk, and the length. I looked at so.many dresses that did not feel that way. Of course it's important that it looks right, but it's also how I feel with that dress on. Like Una's post on how do you want to feel in your clothing. Is that something you liked about it, too?

It's a reminder to be patient and picky!

You know? I am not a super big fan of 1 despite the popular vote, it feels a smidge too long for you. How do you feel about the length? Does that come in petites?

Even though the pointy heels help a lot, to me, a tea length A line dress needs heels. It can veer into frumpy territory without them.

2 and 3 are more styling dependent. they are not fails, they just need supporting pieces.: A blazer, cardigan, supporting undergarments etc.

i am unsure of my vote. If it was me, I would probably return all three.

How high of heels do you think it would need, Zap? This will be a factor for me (and it is not a for sure stay yet. Ordered the next size down to check I out). I struggle with heels as I have super fussy feet. I was in an accident where I shattered my left foot. They reconstructed it, but that is why I tend toward very comfy shoes with lots of support and low heels.
