K/R Navy Peacoat and Cocoon-ish Stripes

Hey girls,

I haven't had much time lately thanks to some house refurnishing (and curbing the mess that comes with redoing the mud room)... but here are pics from my lastest purchases and I need advise.

These jackets were on sale at Mango and I couldn't resist it. But I am not quite sure about their fit. The peacoat seems a bit wide on the shoulders (my seamstress might be able to fix that) and the striped coat...oh well... it has a bit of the oval/cocoon shape and I am not so sure it looks good on me (but I love the print and I haven't a single printed winter coat).

Let me know your take on fit. I am sorry for dark pics, but that is the best I can do in my bedroom mirror on winter. There's very little light available (these pics were taken with the window open and the lights on! And it was 9am!)

Wow -- I adore that plaid cocoon coat. I think it looks good. It is a rather "maximal" look. Does that fit with your style? I agree that the peacoat does seem a bit big on you (esp. in the shoulder) -- but it is hard to see the true fit from the picture. It might very well be worth the cost of alterations as peacoats are classic.

Other than the sleeves needing to be shortened a bit, I like both coats. I like a pea coat to be roomy enough to layer under it...probably because mine isn't roomy enough.

I LOVE the plaid cocoon too. Wow. I am not sure about the pea coat, though I cannot verbalize why. Maybe it seems a little tight....like Joy said.

I may be the odd one. I like the plaid coat but not the fit. The navy coat fit well to my eye and will have longer style life.

Since in this same package, I got a long coat in navy blue that fitted me like a glove, I decided to part ways with the pea coat and keep only the cocoon stripes.

As it turned out, the cocoon has the perfect length to be worn with shorts... it's a way of sporting my favorite combo opaque tights+shorts+tall boots and play its seasonally confused taste down.

I think it looks like the cocoon coat is meant to have dropped shoulders, so I think the fit is pretty good, but from what I can see of the peacoat the shoulders look okay, but the arms look long. Very cute winter shorts outfit.

Oooh - I love the plaid coat! That is amazing and so much fun. I also think the pea coat will be great with shortened sleeves. Super choices!

At first I was going to say return the cocoon coat, because I thought the fit was not good at all. But in your later picture (in the bathroom), it looks great! Amazing what better lighting and camera angle can do. I vote for you to take all your pictures in the bathroom from now on. :^)
