K/R NAS - Burgundy Leather

Reviews were overall positive, but with my pale complexion there was some concern it was too harsh.

I ordered this jacket in two sizes, and the smaller of the two arrived today. It is also long, so not a good match with my flared skirts and dresses. The leather on it is amazing. I have never tried on anything so sumptuous.

Trying it on with a potential new pair of VC trousers. They are like wearing pajamas they are so soft and comfy.

The white sandals are on for PPL as they were the only pair I could get to without walking past DD's room. She is not feeling well and has been a light sleeper because of it, so didn't want to take the chance!

What do you think? Is the wine jacket a 10? Worth triple the price of the black one? Should I wait for the one the next size up?

Oh boy. I bought this jacket and love it to death although I won't be wearing it for several months. It's true--the leather is delicious. Looking carefully at your photo I would say the color is better for you. It does seem long on you--how does it compare with the black one?

One thing about the black one is that if you are anything like me, you will be wearing a scarf with it or else a high neckline or something to soften the color.

The jacket seems to fit your shoulders well and doesn't seem too tight anywhere. How does it fit in the back? The sleeves seem roomier than the black one. Is this good or bad? Will you wear layers or a heavy sweater under this one? Other than the looser sleeve fit, I like the way this one fits compared to the black one. I admit a bias in favor of this jacket, so feel free to discount everything I say.

Yes! A 10 for sure--look at #2! I think it looks fantastic open. I would not size up. The black one looks great too but this one is absolutely stunning! Keep and let's be triplets with MsMaven! I like everything about it except that I do see your concern about the length. In the first photo the length looks ok - I think it might just be the camera angle that is making it look long in #2 and #3.

Need more expert eyes to chime in.

I love the colour on you. Hard for me to tell with the length. Could you try it with dresses/skirts? For the extra cost I think I'd want to be able to throw it over almost anything

Wow, there is no comparison between the black and wine. Love the wine. Not sure about the length with dresses but it looks great with pants!

Love the wine colour and with those pants, the length is perfect. I could also see it working well over a pencil or tube skirt, but would have to see it over a flared skirt for a better idea.

One of my favourite colours Thistle, and I do think that your complexion looks warmer in this jacket.
Length versatility might be the only draw-back.

I am going to be a spanner here. I much prefer the fit of the black one on you, in the smaller size. They are both dark colors and worn with the pink dress I think the black jacket actually has an overall brighter effect on your complexion. I dislike the bigger fit of the sleeves of this one on you, the fitted sleeves as well as the shorter length are more flattering.

But I do know that there is nothing quite like luxe, premium leather, it is a very wonderful feeling to wear so that gives the wine colored jacket extra points.

These comments are coming from a completely price-neutral standpoint.

The pants are great on you btw.

I'd have to see this one styled how you are going to wear it. The colour is great. I do prefer the sleeve fit on the black jacket.

hmmm, this is a tough one. i like them both. which one do you think you would want to wear next year? for an investment like this, i want to make sure that this is one that i will want to reach for now and later.

Thistle, I did not follow your leather jacket search too closely, though I did see some pics of the black jacket. I agree that the color was very strong for your complexion, and I prefer this wine color for you. It must be a gorgeous jacket, but I agree that the length here seems off (too long).

I know it isn't the be-all, end-all leather jacket, but the price is pretty reasonable, and I think you would look very nice in it for now, and find a lot of use out of it while you continue to search out your dream jacket.

You may want to think of yourself in leather jacket research mode.
The shorter jacket is better and the burgundy color& leather quality are better. You might also find yourself in the dress vs pants proportions dilemma, which is an issue for "investment" jackets.
So...one thing to decide is whether you want to close your eyes to black leather and focus on the softer/ warmer colors now available; or to aim for a best-with dresses jacket( & try it on with lots of your skirts/ dresses) and so on. You don't have to buy NAS.

I am not getting the "this is an amazing jacket" as the overwhelming response. ;).

So, DH liked the burgundy one, but loved the way it felt. We both petted it a few dozen times! However, he was really liking the black one when it was on. The ponte insets on it are genius.

Sounds like I really need to think this through. And this is the first time I have even tried on leather in 10 years,so that alone was fun

Why don't we have a Danier in the US?!?

This one is sportier, but the black one is more elegant - like a Chanel jacket in leather. I didn't thin it washed you out at all.

My vote is the black one all the way.

Do you think you will try to eventually have a few different jackets? Or are you trying for this one to be everything? I do agree that the neckline on the black jacket would preclude you from wearing many different types of blouses or shirts well. I think your search is not over yet, and also agree that NAS doesn't have to be the source for your jacket.

My vote is neither of these. You have not tried on leather jackets in ten years - I would look around some more if I were you before committing. You don't sound like you're in love with either of these, and apparently leather jackets like you.

I strongly advise continuing to look.

I went through a big leather jacket search two autumns in a row. I had not owned a leather jacket in...well....decades. So I looked at what the other Fabbers were wearing. I went into stores and tried. I looked at the websites. I ordered and returned a few.

Last autumn I felt very discouraged. I just couldn't find that jacket of my dreams. Lots of them were "okay" or even really good -- but none was perfect.

I gave up the search...more or less. And you know the rest of the story, right? Mid-winter, I found my perfect jacket right in front of my nose. On sale. And within a few months had found a sister for it!

Moral of the story: it's not a NEED. And for something that fills such a big "want" hole, you want it to be superb.

I agree with those who said to keep looking. I bought a leather jacket a couple years ago without really shopping at all. I simply ordered one from EB. I love the color for me (deep chocolate brown) and it fits well and is a nice jacket but I wish I would have shopped longer and tried on more options first just to be sure. I must admit I do have the infamous $30 Spiegel black one on it's way to try. To me it was worth a risk at that price just for fun if it's not great on. It won't be "the" jacket I imagine but then again I only get to wear them like two weeks out of the year due to our warm weather.

Hm, I think I'm going to be one of the "keep looking" votes, too. NOT because they don't look fab on you... but because I feel like you prefer to wear skirts and dresses - correct me if I'm wrong, of course. Something shorter, maybe with a cutaway lapel, might work a little better IMO. Have you tried the Halogen style Mochi has?

I say keep looking for something shorter just because I know you like to wear a lot of dresses/skirts. Although I do love this jacket on you open with the column of black.

I like the Halogen, but taupe and I do not agree! It, and any of its color incarnations, look pretty bad on me. About the only member of the brown family I can wear is a deep chocolate brown.

And I do wear a lot of dresses. And skirts. I have a few pencil skirts that I enjoy, and a handful of trousers that it might work with, but I have really been enjoying the "kindness" of skirts. Frankly, they just fit my hips better than trousers.

I have learned a valuable thing or two. The smooth leather jackets do much, much better on me than motos or anything with pockets or other detailing. I think this is why the worked for me even if not perfect. Simple, clean and streamlined is what I need to look for! I

I will give it a few more pets and then send it on its way. I am sure as fall draws closer there will be more options.

And it is a want, (a strong want!), not a need, and I need a puffer coat. Ugh. Maybe a fall outer wear leather coat as I need a fall jacket as well, and then the CPW would justify a larger splurge

Thistle, I would seriously consider trying this one out. I think it would look amazing on you in the black.

ETA: I see that online it's now only in taupe for the plus sizes. But I say that you should confer by phone with Nordstrom. Things are being returned all the time. I just returned a cobalt sweater and the saleslady was actually happy because it was so scarce and other people wanted it. I think you might be able to get your hands on it! I'd give it a shot!

I am really sad that you are passing on that black jacket TBH. Not a lotta love for black on the forum, but I find it a real workhorse - especially in outerwear. And that jacket did marvels for your shape IMO.

I am right between plus sized and regular size, to be honest, depending on how it fits with my pear shape. The regular might work, but I will call Nordies to see about the other as well.

I am going to try the black jacket with some wrap tops and V-necks tonight.
