K/R: My trip to Danier... - YouLookFab Forum

Well, had some time last night, so finally made a trip to Danier. The plan was to look for a white jacket....

Well, that didn't work out. But I did find this! (OK, and another one, but that will wait for another post). A black moto jacket has been on my wish list for some time, but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. Once I started trying things on, I realized that I have a very difficult shape to fit this style of jacket. So, brought hthis one home to try with various outfits.

This morning I was trying to figure out what jacket to wear, was struggling a bit, so grabbed this, just for fun. Well, the happiness factor meter went through the roof. It felt so me! Which is kinda cool, considering I'm not quite sure what "me" is right now, style-wise. It's moto, but not in a big way, which feels just about right.

Anyway, this is technically a K/R question... the tags are still on! What do you think? Do the proportions work on me? You can be honest... it's too much money not to be fab. And I know the right one is out there somewhere, if this isn't it.

ETA some shots with it done up. And my new bf's Please excuse the lack of make up, and the horrible lighting. Forgot to turn off the potlights... not a good thing...

Looks very soft and comfortable. Looks like it does fit. If you want honesty though, it looks a bit....puffy somehow. Just not sure. You are not a puffy person but this one somehow adds a bit of bulk to my eye. Sorry mine is the first opinion - I am not an expert on leather by any means!

I don't know much about leather or motos as I am finding myself leaning hard towards soft and feminine shapes. I so hope others will chime in!

My honest thought though is that if your happiness factor is that high, then it is a keeper.

More views would be helpful, because it's so hard to see black in photos. I think it looks good though, and if you like it, I say go for it.

More views would be nice, but so far I like it. I see you in a black leather jacket much more so than a white one. It goes well with your clothing and coloring.

It sounds as if you are really happy in it, and that is the most important factor of all!

And it looks good from what we can see. But yes, for a big purchase like this, might be good to see it a few different ways and done up as well.

I was thinking I quite liked it and then followed the link and know why. I have the same jacket in the deep eggplant color. I love that jacket. It has a bit of a tough vibe but is also very tailored and has nice shape.

Hi Elizabeth, yes gorgeous jacket. I agree with Nicole that it looks a little "poofy", big on you. It is longer on you than the model. Would you want something shorter on the torso? With that said, if that is the look that you want, something tough and rugged, this is the coat.

I do have to say that a couple of things worry me a little. The fact that you don't know who "you" are right now stylistically and that this is a lot of money not to be fab in it. If you don't mind, I will make a suggestion. Try getting a cheap faux leather jacket for a dry run. That helped me immensely. I bought a faux moto at Target and discovered, after wearing it, that it really was not what I wanted. Then I got a beautiful leather blazer with a touch of "moto" which I feel is more "me". I can say this though, if you do keep the jacket, I don't think that it will be a mistake. : )

The most important factor is that you like it already! That makes it a keeper in itself. I can see the small poof, too, but I don't think it matters, and the jacket will probably take shape after you a bit when you're wearing it (breaking it in).

Both the style and color suit you -- keep. As far as comparing the lack of poofiness on the model, what do they do? --vacuum pack the jacket onto the dressmaker thingy? There are never any wrinkles or poofiness as there are in real life on real bodies.

What a gorgeous jacket! I love it. As long as you're sure it's not too big on you. Didn't I hear Danier advises to size down because that soft leather will stretch? This could be a style turning point for you Elizabeth; how exciting!

I really wouldn't feel comfortable with this any smaller... would be WAY to tight across my chest. The shoulder fit was really good. So we'll just have to hope it doesn't stretch too much!

Claire, I think you could be right... it really feels good. Took the tags off and wore it to the mall today :).

I like it on you. And I like your BFs too.

It's true it feels most like an "outdoor" jacket. But that is perfectly okay. And it sounds as if you are really going to enjoy it.
