K/R: More BR cream jeans

They feel really good, and so far I don't mind the crotch fit, which is usually my sticking point with white jeans. However, DH really hates the rear view, and says they make my backside look bigger than any other pant he's seen me in. I suppose I could plan to wear only with long tops and half tucks...

What do you think? I am getting pretty desperate for some work-appropriate white skinnies, but I keep striking out left and right.

For others considering these, I bought my regular BR pant size, 2P (did not size up, because after seeing them in the store in regular length, I was afraid of the elephant skin effect due to the lightweight fabric).

I like them! As for the backside, I had a struggle with my recent white jean search and came to the realization that I do not wear short shirts above the yoke of the jeans. That helped me decide.

Catnip, elephant skin is what I think of when you size up on a really thin skinny jean, and instead of slouching elegantly, the thin fabric just sort of ripples and sags like a plastic bag or saggy elephant skin. :T

If you're after a body con fit, these fit the bill and look great.

FWIW, I don't find the ripples and sags un-elegant on the pair I bought, which are a much roomier fit than these. In fact, I think quite the opposite. Horses for courses, I guess. xo

I prefer this color sized up because it's a light color and somehow looks more slimming to me with a bit of wrinklage. But in no way does your rear view look bad - I'd kill for a posterior like that!

The length looks great and I like them on you. I think they might be too body con for work, unless you are wearing a tunic. I see them more as a going out jean.

I think they look great for a skinny silhouette. Count me as another one who would kill for a rear view like yours!

I bought these in light grey and am awaiting them in cream. They "fit" per se in a 29, but I wanted them not body con, so I went for the 30. I'm wearing them today and can see I would benefit from having the waist taken in so they don't keep sliding down my backside, but they are awfully comfy and actually have sufficient length for a little bit of scrunch, even in the regular length size on me!

I really like the way these fit you! I think the current size is perfect for casual wear and going out, but I'd suggest sizing up if you want to wear them to work. Unfortunately, large back pockets like those found on these jeans can distort a rear view. That's probably why DH thinks these make your backside look bigger. Maybe try them with a couple of the tops you'd most likely wear them with and see if that helps you decide.

These do look tight to me, but if my BF said my butt looked the biggest he's ever seen it, I'd be taking that as a solid compliment.

Aren't they incredibly soft? Rae, I went with the regular length. I think I got a fit somewhere between yours and Angie's. They are too long for me in regular and I will probably have them hemmed a bit. My experience with BR is that the petite fit in the same size is a bit different from the regular fit. And I prefer the regulars on me except for length. So it might still be worth trying them for comparison.

Rae how could you even have a big butt in a 2P. It's simply not possible!
I decided to size up on these jeans because of several reasons. Main one was the tightness of the leg from my thighs all the way to the calf. One size up relaxed that just enough. You don't have the problem of the snug fit going all the way down the leg. I think these will stretch some for you in your current size so they won't be quite as body con. It really just depends on your personal comfort level. These actually look really nice on you. Don't you just love the fabric and the color!?

Yes, I don't think anyone wearing size 2 should be concerned about the "big butt issue". I will say that when I put my BR cream skinnies on, my first thought was "my thighs look bigger in these pants than in any other pants I own". I wonder if the "enlargement effect" has something to do with the color.

I think you look great in these jeans and if you wanted to size up, they would still look good on you.

When I first started wearing my white Kut skinnies I was sure my thighs looked like beached whales. But I swear I got used to it.

Angie, FWIW, I don't see elephant skin when I see you in your skinnies, either. I think part of it may be how round my booty is, preventing wrinkles from draping the same way as they might on you. Also, I do have my off white TR BF jeans, so I really did want a true skinny.

Suz, I was as shocked as anybody to learn that I preferred a petite fit at BR! It's the only place I like the petites better... found out accidentally when I ordered petite crops on Ebay by mistake. Something about the knee placement works better for me - perhaps it is some function of my short thighs and proportionally long shins (the same thing that allows me to wear taller boots than you do)?? No idea, but it is an interesting fluke of nature!

For those who think they are too tight for work (keep in mind I will soon be working in a department that mainly sells Vince, Joie, and Helmut Lang... read: big, long, flowy silky tunic things), is it the back view or the front that bothers you?

The other idea I might try is a pair of 100% cotton jeans I found on Ebay... cheaper but no returns.

Sounds like these are perfect, Rae - if you can manage how hubs feels about them.

I didn't for a second think they were too tight for work. This is one of the fashion fits and you're in the fashion biz. I see plenty of SA's at Nordies wear tight skinnies with panache. And you will too.

So you can wear jeans to work after all?

Thanks, Angie! One of the benefits of a change of venue. Ironically, our POV floor offers far more denim options.... go figure. Now if only I could wear destroyed denim, I would be happy as a clam!

The change of venue will be a fun change I'm sure. At the Flagship, SA's are allowed to wear jeans as long as they aren't blue or distressed. You'll have to enjoy your shredded jeans on non-work days, Rae.

There is no way possible, on this planet or any other, that a person wearing a size 2 could have a big butt! I'd like to see the one-size-up version just for comparison, but these look fantastic.

I think they look great, both front and back. The fit seems really good. As for the "big butt" issue, I would ask yourself if *you* think they look bad from the rear view. If you think the back view is unflattering and would have thought so even without your DH's comment, then maybe you want to keep looking. But if you yourself are satisfied with the view, I would say keep.

Sounds to me like these are just fine for work. I was assuming that denim, skinnies especially, was a no-go. And neither view bothers me...are you kidding?! You look awesome! I'm actually hoping that mine eventually fit more like yours- gotta get back into my workout routine

They don't look too tight to me AT ALL -- in fact, my first thought was yay, someone with jeans in the correct size! I think your backside looks just fine in them, too.
