K/R: Mod in NY, urgent, have to return while here. Edited to add pics of other purchases.

I have some Joe Fresh purchases I'm unsure about. We don't have one in LA so I plan to return today before I head to Brooklyn later. I will also include a Zara dress which can be returned in LA, just for comparison.

Pic 1, 2 & 3 - not great on sit down test due to length but only $29, cotton, good for hot weather. A bit stiff.

I'm on the ipad so going to try to add pics of other purchases below. Thanks. OK I couldn't add pics in comments so I borrowed DHs computer to edit this post & add the rest.

Pics 4, 5 & 6 - Also stiff. Lack of softness affects the drape I think a voluminous dress needs. Longer & better on sit down test.

Pic 7 - Zara dress can be returned in LA but posted for comparison. It is polyester, not as good for hot weather but drapier. Still loose for air flow. Better on sit down test.

Pics 8, 9 &10 - Silk blouse, pulls at front when I put my arms back. but OK the rest of the time. Hard to find one that doesn't do that on me & it was only $59.

If you like all dresses I will keep all. It is not an either this one or that one question.

I love my new shoes I've been coveting. I got them for 50% off! I would have preferred a white or nude pointy shoe, because I already have 2 black pointy pairs but I haven't found any I like at a price I can afford. The ones I own don't have an ankle strap. They are high heeled pumps & slingback kitten heels. These come in red but I thought black might be more practical. I always do that. But when I don't then I wish I had them in black. For example, I don't own any low heeled black booties, & keep wishing I did.

Elle - I like the mod pattern and style of the dress and I think the fit is quite good. It is fairly short though - you commented it's not great on the sit down test due to the length. Is there any hem allowance you could let down that would rectify that problem?

You're right, it's a super cute dress. But if it's not passing the sit down test, you probably should return it. You don't want to buy it and have it end up a closet orphan.

Dotty dress has an inch and a half of hem but would the crease come out? Also I am always careful in short dresses, when I sit. I don't bend over either lol. I'm heading to Bloomies now with purchases in tow, & checking in from my iphone to see what should be returned.

What the material the dress is made out of? The crease should come out, but you may only get about an inch more considering you would still need to put a hem in it. Is that enough for you?

I think I prefer #7 to the first dress, but that's just my opinion. The 2nd dress does look kind of stiff. Do you like the 2nd dress and silky top?

Great haul. I love everything except for the dotty dress from the back. It looks like the fit is off--pulling around the waist. I know it is a shift but it looks like you need more length in the torso to get it to drape the way the white dress drapes. The white dress is gorgeous on you, btw. Love the silk shirt as well. Ethereal and polished.

Then keep them. Do you think the stiffness will decrease with time?

Number 7 isn't stiff Kristin so I will keep it & blouse, unless I get other opinions on here. I would rather return things these days than settle for bargains. The dresses will stay stiff I think. They wont be getting run through a washing machine over & over like jeans. I am mostly concerned with the way they don't drape. I think volume looks odd without the drape do you?

I actually like the crispness of the first two dresses. I don't think they're supposed to drape like the poly would. But you don't sound like you love them.

I like the dotty dress,the Zara dress, and the blouse. The white dress does look too stiff, so it just looks too big in the middle to my eye.

If you're not going to be comfy in the dotty dress because of its length, though, I think you should return it.

I think I have that silk blouse (the one with no pockets, right?), in the pinstripe pattern. I love it, it's super comfy, and the price is fantastic for silk, so I vote keep.

LOVE your new shoes! That's the it shoe of the season and you wear it perfectly :). If I could wear them in white - I would. But my feet won't have it.

Elle, I love the dotty frock from the front, but it seems an odd fit at the back.

The polka dot dress looks great on you, and if you're willing to be careful when sitting, then by all means keep! You're young and have great legs, so why not show them!
The white one I'm not as crazy about, but I defer to those who know more about current styles.
Love the Zara dress, and the silk blouse looks nice. It doesn't gape in front, and doesn't look too small to me. I vote keep both.

I love the first two dresses and the shoes. They're totally mod and you are rocking them. To be honest, I don't love dress #7 - it's more Reno than mod in my book - and the blouse doesn't excite me that much. At least not tucked.

I like all of the dresses. I think the fit of Dotty on the back is just how you are standing. I believe they will soften somewhat with time. I would keep all 3 if you are able. And the silk blouse has tons of versatility

And BJ the dress is true to size I think. I thought it ran large but I am smaller than I used to be. I bought a Theory jacket in sz 2 today & could button it. It was snug how I like my blazers. I am sz 2 in the Joe Fresh dress. Joe Fresh is sold in JC Penney for those of you who don't live in Canada or NY. They don't carry the white dress though. I checked when I returned the dotty dress today cos I knew some of you were interested. And I don't know if you can see it but the dress has perforated pleather patches, one at neck & one on one pocket. Really cool.

I am completely smitten with your black shoes. Angie is right, this is the it shoe and it's every where but I still want them. Where did you get them? I want a pair like that, as I am also on a self-imposed budget because I don't get a lot of wear from a shoe like that.

I like the silk blouse and all of the dresses, sorry I'm no help. It seems both of the woven (Joe Fresh?) dresses have some fit issues in the back, this could be due to an inexpensive construction, not as many seams and darts in back etc. But you look great in them, and I only noticed the fit issues in back after others mentioned it and I looked more closely.

Update: I couldn't find them on line, but I did find these Chloe sandals, which are so perfect! But at $695, they exceed even my Rag & Bone and Opening Ceremony footwear "investments."
