K/R metallic loafer

I’ve been eyeing a few point-toe flats and found these pewter loafers. I love the color, and the shape, but I’m concerned about fit. Can you help?

I normally wear a 7 in most shoes; 8 in trainers. I am wearing these pewter ones in a 7.5. I could barely get my foot in the 7, and my heel fell out of the 8. From the side these look ok, but from the top, it seems like there is a gap where my foot narrows. Is that normal? Or are they too big? I wonder if the gap will get worse when the shoes stretch.

Are these Franco Sarto's? I have them in black, and they took WAY too long to break in and become comfortable. I wore them a few times in the fall, and thought they were destined for the give-away pile (uncomfortable across a bunion I have on one foot and weird in the heel, as you mentioned). Instead, I put them away for the winter, and wore them yesterday and , lo and behold - they are just fine. I don't have that gap at the side you are seeing though...

It doesnt look a lot, you could put moleskine to fill in the sides.

Keep if comfortable. Be sure you don’t trip on the toe.

LisaP - they are Franco sarto. Did yours stretch? Did you take your usual size? I’m wondering if I should go back to the 7 and let it be. These 7.5 feel like if they stretch - even a bit - they will slip....

I just tried two other pairs of other pointed flats (different brands) I have and neither have a gap.

Honestly I can barely see any gap, but I think most shoes fit me like that (slightly narrow feet here). I think if they are comfortable and don’t fall off your heels they are winners. They are really cute.

Thanks, Janet! They are a great mix of silver and gold, in person they lean olive-y. I guess that's why I feel like fighting to find a size that works!

I had to go up 1/2 a size to get the right fit (well, sort of) across the broadest part of my foot, which made the heel slip and rub a bit, so I put a piece of moleskin inside the back of the heel. At the end of the day, shoes shouldn't be that high-maintenance, but I was determined to find a pair of pointy-toe flats.

I didn't find these soft enough Nemosmom, but they look super cute. My loafers gape much more than that, and stay on my feet. They latch onto my bones somehow, since I have very boney narrow feet.

In general I wear 1/2 smaller in loafers than oxford type shoes. I can usually depend that Franco Sarto will be the same. Their loafers are pretty consistent fit for me, I like these, and may have to look them up!

LisaP- thanks! The fit feels “sloppy”, if that makes any sense. As I walk around my carpet in them, the toe is squishy... I will try the 7s again for giggles.

Angie- thx! My heels are narrow and bony, but I supinate - I wonder if that’s causing the gap?

Cjh- Here’s the find. I don’t have any loafers or oxfords, but my other flats are 7 or 7.5.

I’ve ordered another 7.5 to see if I got a dud pair and re-ordered the 7. If neither fit, I’ll move on. NEXT, as Angie would say

They look kind of stiff? I only have 2 pairs of loafers and one annoys me so much, they are sort of tight. I want to wear them as I love the bright yellow. But only 6 wears, grrr. My others are better but much more comfy with socks. I’m deciding loafers may not be my thing. Not sure about the gap but the 7s sound too tight

super cute.....if the 7's fit but are a smidge too tight a good cobbler can stretch them....

JenniNZ - they are stiff, yet sloppy. It's difficult to accurately describe. The soles don't flex much, but the uppers feel squishy.

I also get that gap through the center on every pair of flats I’ve ever owned. For me, as long as it’s not too bad, I just consider it part of what wearing flats or loafers entails. Of course, they must be comfortable. I’m also on the hunt for a pointy toe flat. Super hard to find comfort, and still elusive for me, as I’ve yet to keep one.

delurked - I picked up this pair of Steve Madden Feather flats yesterday and found them really comfortable. The rubber bottom is grippy, yet really flexible; the upper molds to my foot. I found it tts.

Good to know. That’s not a brand I even try in my shoe search. I think the higher vamp also could keep the shoe on the foot better.

I don't really see the gap. It it's there it's minimal. I think they look great! At this very moment I am sitting here with two pairs of pointy toe flats (mules) that I ordered from Everlane, trying to decide which I like better. Flats always seem more difficult to fit than shoes that have a bit of a heel, but that may be just me.
