I got the jacket today. For reference here's the stock photo. I got it on sale, but still spendy.

This is a size large, so I can't size up. It's made of stretchy material. Somehow I don't think it's a 10. I'm not sure it fits my style epiphany I kinda want it to be longer, maybe I'm too tall for it. First three pictures are zipped up, last three unzipped. Excuse commuting clothes, house clogs and bad light. The white bits are tissue paper covering the zipper pulls.
Was I blinded by Manrepeller goggles?

I am not sure it fits. It doesn't seem long enough as you mentioned. Do you feel it gives your style the oomph you are looking for? You mentioned before toppers and shoes were critical. Tis doesn't feel as cutting edge to me as some of your other choices.

I definately prefer it open, Anna. There is something about the peplum on that jacket when it's closed that isn't quite right - looks nice from the side though. Too long or horizontally cutting? Not sure. That's why it's not a 10 to my eye, and I vote return.

Onto something better!

Something about that peplum looks sweet on you. Maybe just because you haven't really styled it?

I am not sure. I think the styling is throwing me off. I think you should try it with other alternatives before it goes back. What about a skirt?

Hm, I think I agree with Angie, and maybe you are right that it doesn't fit with your epiphany. I don't think it stands up to your current jacket collection.

I like the idea of different take on a shorter black leather jacket and can see why this had appeal. Agree with those who say it isn't quite right on and I know that stuff that is this finicky goes to the back of my closet, which is never a good idea, never mind on a pricey item that could be a joy creating work horse. I think that the jacket has a lot going on, with extra zipper detail that accentuates the peplum, which then has to lay extra just so because there is now a silver line delineating it. Don't despair. There are a lot of fish in the black leather jacket sea!

Even if free, I would send it back. That peplum skirt is out of proportion for the bodice, to my eye. Bummer.

Well now, I'm gonna swim against the tide. I like it on you. I couldn't believe that was the same jacket that was in the stock photo. Kept my mouth shut because I felt it cheap and uninspired looking. Good thing I did too, because I was wrong (I really could use some more imagination). I frankly also like it with the house clogs.

BUT - and here's the rub - it's Native Wear. As in "Bay Area Native." As in "punk-out-of-uniform." As in anti-fashion fashion. The total outfit for raising a brood of smudge-cheeked children with mohawks and an excess of purple eyeliner.

I'm thinking *maybe that's not you...*

...unless you'd be down with a big man with sideburns, a shrunken fedora, lots of tatoos, a jam-packed iPod, and who's gone all night tending the coals in the brick-oven of the artisan bakery he's got going. You could run the farmer's market stall...

It's so hard to find the perfect peplum - I gave it a try with that leather one but passed it on to MaryK.

It looks good open, but when it is closed the fit looks off. I would hold out for something else.

Rats. I wanted this piece to work! But I think you are right, that you are too tall for this particular one. On to better things!

I like it on you, but I'm not crazy about it with those jeans. I think it's where the jacket hits in relation to the jeans pockets in back. Are those pockets in the same place as most of your jeans, or are they lower? If they're unusually low, then I think the jacket will work fine. But if those jeans are pretty representative of where pockets tend to fall on you, then I think the jacket has a problem; if it doesn't play well with your jeans, should it be in your closet?

I'm chuckling at Rachlou's comments and having a hard time picturing you running a farmer's market stall . . . ha! just writing it made me laugh again!

I vote return the jacket. It just doesn't look like it fits correctly!

I want to love it. I love it in theory. But I agree that something is problematic about the proportions of this jacket. On to better things!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to return it, mostly because it's so snug it makes me feel fat. Which is weird because I wear all sorts of things tight. A size 10 should not be snug in a large jacket.

Sizing is wack in so many things. It 's a shame that some designers seem to want to make us feel large. I can see the fit issue as well.

I take it that you wouldn't wear it with the peplum part zipped off, the way it is shown in one of the stock photos? I think the jacket is a smidge short-waisted on you, and with peplums even 1/2" makes a difference in my experience. I love this jacket. For me. Not a good sign AT ALL for you, lol. I really think this jacket is not up to YOUR standards and that you can do better. You need something more interesting.
