Two leather jackets I ordered online were busts.
In cream:

Went to return them at Rack and had a whirl. Found three possibles but doubts on each.

#1: pics 1-3
bod & christensen oxblood leather
Nice weight
Great color on me
Fits pretty well
Center zip flattering I think
Doubts:
Tag says altered or refinished - can't see what was changed
Looks like it's quite old - reviews from 2012
Don't know the brand - anyone w experience
Not sure of chest pockets
Price $149

Bernardo asymmetrical moto
Looks to be from the last NAS
Style a bit tougher but could add edge for me
Fit is ok I think, slightly more fitted but no size up option
Sleeve length good and knit sleeve insets help fit
Doubts:
Higher in back and center back detail on bottom could emphasize hip/butt
Moto style vs more classic - for me, which?
When zipped is tight

Doubts:
Sleeves seem too long (see pics at end w sleeve length shown)
Shoulders fit but zips up tight - fits kinda like model in pics undone
No collar - do I look better in this style? It opens up the neckline as I don't have much neck at all

Sales clerk told me come back on Friday - all sale stuff would be 25% off. Not good as I leave town tomorrow. Could ask friend to help but that's a big favor!

I wanna practice PPP but feel pressure. Am I pushing it? Should I wait for Danier to release something new? Should I give up until next year? My climate is pretty mild year round so a light weight leather jacket could go far for me. I just sold the two I had due to weight loss.

Even if I kept 1 and/or 2 (what I'm leaning toward) I seem obsessed with a white leather jacket and would keep looking. 3 too much? I know for some it's not

I wore a bright tshirt for this exercise as it shows the fit better I think.

Need to decide by noon tomorrow as I fly out tomorrow afternoon. Would love YLF straight up wisdom.

Sales are so exciting, right? But unfortunately sometimes they also cause us to buy things we really shouldn't. My advice is to keep shopping. None of those jackets have the correct mix of great fit and styling that make them perfect for you. And when it comes to a big ticket item like a leather jacket that you'll want to wear for many years to come, make sure it is 100% perfect - can't live without it.

I am so disappointed for you re the cream jackets

#1 I am having trouble discerning the colour on my screen.

Of the three I like Jacket #2. but I don't think it is a 10.

abc I think you may be wise to keep looking. You don't sound like you LOVE any of these so I think it wil be worth the wait for your perfect jacket.. and you seem to have your heart set on white or cream. Don't compromise.

I can't see the third jacket on you that well in the photos. The first two are lovely jackets, but if they are not what you want so that you will still be looking, you should probably pass on these. I'm sorry that the ones you ordered didn't work out.

Jewell, thanks. I agree. I'm quite surprised in a good way about the color of this one (#1) and it leads the pack in terms of fit, IMHO.

Deborah, I think I'm driving myself crazy with doubt. I used to be so sure then I've had some mistakes which is now leading me to doubt my instincts. I don't think either is a straight up 10 but I do like 1 and 2. You'd love 2 with the shoulder detail as shown in pic 6. I'm sad too about the cream jacket. These two are way better than the 2 fails I linked to. I think I'm going to ponder it as long as I can I can always add a white or cream later also .. Anxiously awaiting a danier release ...

Just to add to your decision making, the reason I don't like 1, which I agree is a great colour, is that all the embellishment at the neck cuts yours off. Other than that, it's a great piece.

So on me (taking your own personal biases out as much as you can) - which neckline do you find most flattering? I wondered about 1 bc yes it does have some stuff going on (tab collar I think). #2 has a more classic moto style. #3 has no collar at all. I'm a terrible judge on myself obviously! This is so hard lol - shopping and dressing was so much easier when I was oblivious and wore only black pants and shoes wahahahahaha

Oooh I just realized - I will be back in the USA next week so I have time to decide past tomorrow and I can take them home and play in the closet before deciding. Phew. Feeling less pressure now.

I think my self inflicted - if I don't get it now I will have to wait another month - syndrome was kicking in. Glad I don't have to feel so pressured.

And I can search online and order if something strikes me. If anyone knows of a lightweight leather jacket that might work for me please post a link. Thanks so much.

Yes, reducing that pressure is key. I sympathize...it's like shopping the NAS for me.

Of all of these, I prefer #1. The fit looks good and the colour is nice on you.

But there will be a whole new crop of jackets out at Danier in another month or two. So you won't want for options.

The only question is, do you have enough to wear before then?

Can you identify what was wrong with the two fail jackets? They looked so good in the photos...alas...isn't that always the way?

Hey Suz, thanks for chiming in, I always value your advice.

What was wrong with the two fails was that they seemed more cropped than I imagined and didn't seem to flatter like I had hoped. There was no way I could wear either closed. They fit on the shoulder so I feared if I sized up for extra room in the body of the jacket they would be falling off of my shoulders. The leather was SOOOOOoooo soft on both. I was tempted but did not fall prey to beautiful leather jackets, at least those two.

As for the K/R jackets, I really like #1 and #2 - I have confirmed and reconfirmed (I'm a little obsessive, haha) that #3 is out, I will be returning it this afternoon.

That leaves 1 and 2 still being considered.

I really do like #1 and find the shape to be flattering as well as the color. The neck strap thingy doesn't bother me as much as I guess it seems to bother others. It zips up fine and has flattering back seaming and a snap detail to pull in the waist to give an hourglass effect.

I like #2 as well, mostly for the extra interest added by the shoulder detail (see pic 6) and the stitching on the front placket. I see this juxtaposing more modern classic items in my wardrobe. The sleeve length is good and it looks flattering when left open, I believe. In reading reviews on Nordstrom.com people mixed this with everything from jeans to dresses so I am going to play around a bit before I decide.

I ran #1 and 2 by my coworker friend for a second opinion and she liked both 1 and 2 on me. She agreed 3 needed to go back.

For once I am keeping tags on (cross fingers for good luck at customs) so DH can weigh in. He has a strong fashion sense and I value his opinion.

I think I am going to take them home and try to find some time to play in the closet. I'll be back in the US next week and can return then if I decide that's my final decision.

Re Danier...yes, I am afraid they will keep releasing new stuff, but I could use one (or two) now - and IF they release a good white or cream one, I would consider adding it to the repitoire as well when the time comes.

I like #1 best. Does the neckline bug you though? I always feel claustrophobic when something is right there on my neck.

I love the color in the #1 and the stitching detail in #2...I think i have a similar shape as you, & have similar issues with fit. When they fit the shoulders, the girls can be an issue. I think both the asymmetrical zip and the center zip are flattering on your figure, i think the slightly lower neckline might be more neck elongating, but the #1 collar works well too without overpowering

Carter, the neckline doesn't seem to bug me but I'm taking it home to try out over the weekend at home to confirm.

So sorry you're still having problems with this!

My favorite is #1, both for fit and for color. I also think the length looks good on you. To my eye, the length of 2 and 3 is too short. If you mostly wear pants, a longer length usually looks better. I also think that 2 and 3 look kind of tight.

Honestly, if you really liked one of these, you would have had a happy "Yes!" moment when you tried it on. But you're clearly struggling to see if one of them will "make do." I have found that "making do" doesn't usually equal "making happy." A leather jacket is such a versatile piece (and such a relatively expensive one) that I would keep looking until you find the one that you KNOW is right. And then you will not post a K/R here but will post a pic with your new jacket with the tags off. :^)

As far as getting a jacket that fits less tight, I wonder what would happen if you shopped for more boxy-looking jackets? Those might have extra material in the bust but not in the shoulders. They would look boxy on the model but might appear more fitted on you. Just a thought. I suffer from the opposite problem (nonexistent bust), so I can't offer much help in that area!
