I definitely like this better than the longer one - this one is more clear-cut, in function - it is a miniskirt, not a miniskirt masquerading as a longer skirt I feel like you can get more out of this skirt, and you can wear it again and again, without feeling like everyone has seen it, because it can either stand out, or blend in. And I really really love the green color!
In my twenties, I used to wear shorter skirts to work, because that was available in most of the twenty-something shops and departments I shopped in. Because I didn't dress frou-frou or twee - and because I always stayed on top of things - I never felt underestimated, or not taken seriously. So I think... if you really really want to wear this skirt to work, and it doesn't break any written dress codes, wear it with some opaque tights and shoes that aren't overtly sexy. If your office does casual Fridays, I think that's the time to test-drive the skirt.
ETA: I forgot to say... I would wear the skirt if your work environment is not formal, or a super-conservative business, such as banking. And then... I would wear it with opaque tights, and something high-necked, with a longer sleeve.
