K/R Leather Jacket (more spring shopping, pics included)

Last year I hunted for a new leather jacket and I found a coral colored Rebecca Taylor Moto style that I love and an eggplant color cropped jacket by Veda which makes a great topper with dresses and my dark to mid-tone pencil skirts. I also have a golden brown Cole Hahn jacket which is large on me and sees much less wear but Angie encouraged me to keep it and I wore it three or four times in 2015.

I fell in love with the Vince leather jacket that Angie showed as part of a capsule she helped put together for one of her clients. Sadly, that jacket was ridiculously large on me even in the smallest size. Then I noticed that my cropped Veda comes in Winter White! I like it but am not sure how I would wear it. I have a white jean jacket, a white linen blazer and a white cashmere cardigan and they are the least used toppers in my closet. Would it be a mistake to keep this one? The pictures are awful because I am wearing three layers underneath which I would never really do and these jeans are low rise which doesn't work with a crop jacket. Use your imaginations please. My question is mostly about the color. Is this flattering or meh? To bright, JFE or perfect?

I stumbled on the next jacket and am happy I did. I think it's a great replacement for the Cole Hahn. It's a taupe colored Soia and Kyo jacket. The color name is desert. The color comes very close to the mid tone brown in my light summer palette. What do you think of the fit? Jacket evaluation only please! I didn't style anything. Aren't my socks nice!

I like your older coral one the best. The white is a good color but I find the cropped length to be too cropped. The desert one is ok but not best ever. I could see you more in a light blue or turquoise.

Nodding in agreement with Lisa. The white is indeed good on you as a colour but seems out of proportion somehow. I'm not loving the brown shade on you - it's not lively enough for your colouring. Pale blue, pale pink, would be good colours if you are in need of another spring leather.

I agree that the coral jacket is without doubt the best colour on you. I prefer the length of the desert jacket, and the colour is nice, too. The white is a GREAT colour on you, and it looks like a high quality jacket, but I'm not terribly fond of the very cropped style. I just think it limits a jacket's versatility.

The cropped style works well with my pencil skirts and dresses. In fact, I either need to go long or cropped with them. I wouldn't wear a cropped style with jeans so my pictures are misleading. I threw the jackets on over what I was already wearing without taking time to style them properly.

Like the others have said, I like the coral jacket best, both color and length. I like the fit of the desert jacket except that the sleeves look like they may be short. What do you think? The white is nice and brightens your outfit but I don't love it on you. Have you tried draping yourself in different shades of white in good light? The jacket looks like it is an ivory with some yellow in it, but it is hard to tell on-line.

I think the white color looks very nice on you. It looks short with the jeans but as you say, it may work with dresses or a pencil skirt, I know that it is not styled but you will have to style it to see.

ZOMG coral jacket! LOVE!! I also really like the taupe one on you -- those clean lines really work and I can imagine it paired with all sorts of things. The white one feels a bit boxy to me (more than the eggplant one, actually, so maybe I am just not doing such a good job ignoring the under-layers?) -- not bad, but I think the taupe suits you better.

I say if you're deciding between leather jackets and happen to find a colored one (especially of a pinkish tone) - go for it! Those zippers on that coral one also give it some pizazz.

I love the coral and white jackets with your coloring. I think the brown and taupe colors are not jazzy enough for your personality -- and your coloring. You seem like a pretty hip, high-spirited woman and the cut of the white jacket really announces that part of your personality! Just my 2 cents.

Another commenter saying that the coral is gorgeous. The softness of the leather literally jumps off the screen.

I wanted to like the white because the idea of a white leather jacket appealed to me. I don't love this one. But if you are asking, can you pull off white. Yes. Most definitely.

agreeing with the others, the coral jacket is fab….i'm not sure which jacket is #2, but i quite like it, and i can see the rich deep color working well as a contrast to the lightness in the balance of your closet.

Kkards, jacket #2 is the eggplant. It's the exact same style and cut as the white only in a darker color. Funny how a change in color makes a huge difference in the look. I prefer the darker in this style.

I agree that the coral jacket is beyond amazing, but I do like the white jacket. It has beautiful clean lines and I think it would be nice atop the outfits you described. Love the creamy color of it!

eta: and I actually really love the white one all done up on you. As I flipped through the pictures before I read I said to myself "There's someone who looks great in a closed up leather jacket!" It's lightweight enough you could almost wear it as a blouse if you wanted a little edge.

Nothing quite compares to that coral jacket as that color is absolutely amazing on you, However, the white jacket is also quite nice and would probably be very versatile.

I must say, I love the white! The coral is by far the best, of course, but I do love cropped lengths for natural waist items.

I like the look of both of these new jackets. The white looks like a total winner to me. Beautiful drape and the color looks good on you from what I can see in the photos. I agree that it would work very well with several of the silhouettes in your closet. I would not let this one go, keep!
The desert one fits to perfection as well! You have the right shape for numerous styles of leather jackets. This one would work well to tone down brighter outfits if need be and would also look gorgeous in an all neutral outfit.
Only you know whether or not you would use them enough to warrant keeping both though.

I like the taupe one. The color is nice and the fit is great. The white one looks too short to me. The coral one is lovely.

I also really like the white jacket, especially for its cut. Maybe more for that than the color (which is fine, but you have many other jackets in white).

The other jackets are all fine, too. But the white one strikes me as unique.

I guess I'm in the minority, because I like #8/9 the best. I think the color is very pretty with your hair. I like the black one, too, which I guess is your old jacket? I think the white is great, but if you don't tend to wear the white you already have I guess it's not a good choice.

I think the white is a great color on you, but if you aren't already wearing your other white toppers I'd be leery. Usually what I would do is try on almost everything I could think of that would make a good outfit with the white jacket as a topper (so ignoring non high-rise pants/jeans, and sticking with outfits where the cropped length works--it won't work universally). Then compare proportions, cut and material with the white toppers you already have for those outfits -- usually one topper will work better with an outfit than another, even in the same color. See if the white jacket really is a better solution in terms of shape and length with most of the pairings than the toppers you already have. If you discover one of your other white toppers works better, you can start wearing it more

Thanks for all the opinions everyone! I am leaning towards sending back the white and waiting for another option because it is identical to the eggplant pictured in number 2. I am not sure I need two
Leather jackets that are the same but two different colors. I love the fit and feel of the leather but I'm not sure I would wear it frequently enough to justify the cost which is very expensive for my budget this year.

I like the taupe jacket. I may keep this although Fewer people complemented it. I agree with what Thirkellgirl said, that the color complements my hair. I am going to play around with making some outfits and see how versatile it is.
