K/r leather front peplum

The longer I wear it the more I lean towards return. It is more like a leather armored corset than a peplum on me. Any thoughts from YLF?

Not sure how I would wear it if not with a pencil skirt. It doesn't look good with jeans. Too lumpy around the middle. The funny thing about it is that there's no peplum on me, it's just sort of fit and flare.

I had the same reaction, I was going to return it but my daughter saw it and snatched it out of my hands. I then saw Mary K's outfits with it and I'm no longer sure, it looks amazing on her. It is not mine anymore anyway! If you had it for this long and it is still not worn, is perhaps a sign that it should go.

Yah I think you're right it doesn't have enough flare to look peplum. I think it should be a return...you're not that into it, and it doesn't have quite the right look.

How odd - is this the exact one Una and Mary K had? I agree, the flare just doesn't seem to be there. Hunh. I would sadly return.

I sent mine to MaryK - I think I was too long in the torso and/or busty to make it work. It looks fantastic on her though! Will you wear it?

I think your instincts are good -- if you don't love it return it. I imagine it's supposed to have a wow factor being leather and all, but I find myself more drawn to the skirt

I agree with the others. I say return it. You are right, it really doesn't "peplum". If you are after more of the UWP look, this might work.

I am confused! Is this the same one that MaryK has? I thought hers was sleeveless and all leather. I don't think this is quite right for you Rita. My suggestion was going to be try the same one MaryK has and see how it looks with a contrasting long sleeve top layered underneath (if that's the look you are going for). With the right fit, I think this type of top would look quite fab on you.

Thanks Rita. I'm going to find a pic of Mary's. I recall it looking quite different. The peplum on this one is not distinct at all.

I also think this is the risk/ problem with peplums. If they hit a person just right and the person fills them out, they are fab; if they hit at the wrong place the peplum either juts out seemingly on its own or falls a bit flat and the look is not as fab. OR, I suppose, if the peplum simply mirrors one's own curves or follows them exactly, it doesn't look peplum-ish. But it could be photo angle here also.

I'm wondering if it just needs to be styled differently. The tee underneath seems to be contributing to the bulkier, armour feel, and I would try a simpler skirt as well.

I have this top too, but am only now starting to think about wearing it because warm weather lasted so long, and I'm finding it challenging to come up with casual stylings of it because i have had very little opportunity to dress up lately. I do love it though, so I intend to keep it even if it's not a frequently worn piece.

I think it's a tad too small on you, width wise, which is why it's not flaring. But also it's sort of giving you a uniboob effect, and clinging a bit too much in the midsection. For something like this, I'd not want to go too body-con. But if you go up in size, then it may be too long, though that could be altered.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. It is going back. I wanted to love it but I just can't imagine where I would wear it. It is too body con for work and not something I'd want to wear for date night. I don't think sizing up would help, I think it would be lumpy in an unattractive way if it was not fitted.
