K/R: lace and silk shirt

I wanted to jump on lace trend bandwagon quite for some time but could not find the lace top I liked. I have seen this lace / silk button down in Guess store some time ago at full price and liked it but did not buy. Now it went 30% off so I decided to pounce!
It is still not cheap - $70 after taxes so I am going to keep it if it is a 10. I like that the body is silk and not poly - it is very pleasant for the touch.
If I keep it I am going to wear it both to work and dressing up. I think it is easier to wear to work when not all shirt is lace - but is it dressy enough for party wear?
So please tell me what is your verdict - keep (Yay) or return (Nay)? Does it deserve a place in my closet?

Oh, this is hard! To me it's a 10 in pics 1 and 3. Since you love black and gray so much, I love adding the lacy texture. In these pics I love the lines of the shirt. I think it is dressy enough for parties especially if you have your bottoms carry some of the weight with sparkle or shine.

It's pic 2 that's causing me to hesitate. With your arms out like that, there are pulling lines across your chest. Also, the flaps don't seem fab (though they were not noticeable in pic 1). IRL you may not put your arms out like that so it might not be an issue. I hope pic 2 is not representative because it's a lovely top, and lovely on you.

The pocket flaps don't seem to work with the lace imo, if they are not an issue for you I think everything else is great.

I am not fond of the pockets. I think they are too much with the lace.

Sveta, although I can hardly wait to see what you can with the lace shirt, this one does not speak to me... the pockets make it too sporty.

This might be nice for work Sveta, but IMO won't really cut across to dressy...

I don't like how the solid material cuts across the chest, disconnecting your breast from the top. Also, something bothers me about the horizontal line produced by the two materials in the back. It's like the blouse starts off as sexy, finishes off as utilitarian.

For this price, I would not keep it.

Sveta I found the pocket flapsimmediately distracting:(. The back view is lovely but the front just doesn't speak dressy to me. In fact the flaps compete and provide too much of a contrast with the general sleek, elegant vibe of the blouse.

While it is often my preference to have a more casual style made up in luxe fabric - I'm contrarian - I don't like these particular pocket flaps, either. Plus, a lot of wearing something is how other people react and I read here that everyone is reacting to/focusing on those flaps. So they don't transcend that. However, Mom could probably easily open the seam and remove them.

There's something about the design I don't think is working. Where the lace ends is in an awkward spot and I think the pockets fight. I think you definitely need a lace and silk shirt in your wardrobe, I think there is a better one out there for you.

I agree with the others, pics one and three are great, but pic 2 causes me to vote nay - I don't like the pockets, and although it could be the way you're standing, it looks like it pulls across the chest.
I know you like it, but at that price point I would keep looking - there is something better out there for you

I'm sorry Sveta but I'm another nay vote. It's the pocket flaps in the front. To my eye, they just throw off the whole shirt. The way the pockets start right at the seam where the lace and silk meets just seems awkward. And as others have pointed out, somehow they take away the dressiness of the blouse.

You are too fab for this one Sveta!

Another non-fan of the pockets. They just don't seem to work with the detail on the top. I think the fit is nice and it drapes well from the back. The length is good too. Its just those darn pockets that are keeping it from being a 10 for me.

I think it is the right decision, Sveta. The other problem with those flaps is that if you planned to layer with stuff over top, those would make it more difficult. So all in all, I don't think it is worth the price.

It is gorgeous, but I think it is a little big in the body. Can you have it tailored, perhaps?

ETA - see that you already decided. That's what I get for skipping to the end so others' opinions wouldn't sway mine

I am glad you decided against it because you deserve better - the pockets are just too distracting. Sorry to be so late chiming in!
