K/R La Canadienne - Are these boots too small in the calf?

I love everything about these boots- beautiful waterproof suede. Very comfortable on my feet. Small heel that makes them dressy but appeases my fussy feet.

I had them in cart for a long time, and when I popped in one day, I saw these suede La Canadienne boots for $135 so I pounced (at first, I thought it was a typo!). After my Ugg ones, they are not a need, but oh so a want for luscious waterproof suede!

They feel tight at the calf, and there is no way to loosen them. The buckle has only a single setting. I love, love, love them, but they can't stay if they are too tight.

I have no experience with waterproof suede. Will they stretch, or do these need to go back ASAP?

I have a pair of somewhat similar boots from La Canadienne: mine are black with a small wedge, made from the same waterproof suede. I have had them for 4 years, and worn them a lot, and they have not stretched at all. However, I have very narrow calves, and they weren't quite filling the boots in the first place ( the tiny gap was not visible).

I was going to ask if they were tight at the calf. If they are tight I am not sure of any way to loosen them (though I am sure it's possible). I am a firm believer in having shoes/boots fit right off the bat. I say return unless another YLF lady has ideas on how to make them comfortable at the calf. Otherwise La Canadienne is a wonderful brand that I was considering for myself until I bought my Merrells.

They look too tight in the calf to me. If you absolutely love them and they fit in all other places, then take them to your cobbler and see if he can stretch them, and also add an extra hole for the buckle. That seems easy enough to do, and suede is probably very stretchable (I think).

There is not a cobbler in my area, at least, not one I have found. I have regular sized calves and this is the first pair of boots that have not fit right out of the box.

I am hanging out on my recliner seeing if the warmth of my legs will help at all.

Yep, they are too tight. I have never had success with stretching boots. I vote return. You can make a note of the calf circumference on these and probably add a half an inch. many sites allow you to search by calf circumference. That helps a lot.

They are comfy everywhere but at the top of the boot - the widest part of my calf.

Sounds like they need to go back. I am sad as I love the luscious suede. And waterproof. But no point keeping something that doesn't fit!

I took my Frye boots to a cobbler and he was able to stretch them out - it took about 2 weeks. Just one was tight. If you had access to one I would recommend it but as is I think they will be uncomfortable

Thistle - so sad. They DO look too tight. Do they come in a wider calf version? It is too bad there is no local cobbler. These are gorgeous boots.

So, after sitting in my recliner with them on for about 30 minutes, they left marks in my calf. Back they go! Already boxed up and I will drop them off tomorrow.

That is such a shame that these didn't work out, they are lovely boots. Don't give up on La Canadienne though, the pairs I have are a not narrow in the calf (or I would have never got them on!).

It's a shame but the right decision: tight boots does not just look wrong, they are uncomfortable.
I am sure your perfect boots are waiting for you around the corner...

Commiseration: This season I had to return the most gorgeous pair of Fryes because they failed to zip by about 2" *even though the stated calf measurement was exactly my own* and also *even though I have another pair of Fryes, whose listed calf measurement is exactly the same as the others, which fit me with room to spare! Gapping!*

So. It's not you, it's the boots.

Such a shame! See if you can find some with elastic down the back. That was my solution with my Aquatalias.

yes, they look too narrow in the calf.

La Canadienne I think tends to run narrow in the calf, which is perfect for skinny calved women like me--the one pair of LCs I have fits perfectly (for tights/leggings) without any gappage on my 12'' calves. But on a woman with normal calves, they're probably going to be too tight.

So hard to let go, but I dropped them off at UPS this morning.

Perhaps another fab find will drop in my lap to take their place!

So sad! They were beautiful boots but I'm sure you'll find something else just as fab that fits properly.
