K/R Karen Kane dress and first WIW

What do you think of this dress - fit and color? I like it from the front but I'm afraid it looks too snug in the back, especially around the upper waist. *Cough* back fat. I'm also so pale, is the white ok? I am envisioning it with a cropped denim jacket. I picked one up yesterday but when I tried it with the dress it is obviously too big.

The WIW to a hair appointment is my new $5 Eddie Bauer white jeans. I wore them with my bronze wedge sandals - so no shortening needed. Hot dog!

Wow - fab jeans! $5?! I like the dark top with them. Its perfect for the end of summer, beginning of fall! Great WIW!!

I think the dress is perfect from the front, but I also agree about the tightness of the back. I wouldn't feel comfortable with something that fitted there on me either.

I'm very okay with the color. Those black dots are nice and bold! If it came in colors, well, it might be fun to choose something else, but I like this AND it's the perfect backdrop for adding bright colors in shoes, bag, beads or bangles, or a topper.

Is the next size up available to try? I think it would be worth the effort

Love the dress from the front too. The color is great on you. I also vote for trying one size up. It could make all the difference in back fit!

I was afraid of that : ( and it is such a nice stretchy fabric. The next size up hangs too low in front, like it needs to be a petite.

Looking at the construction there is a seam up the front at the bottom of the "V" neck. I wonder if it could be taken in there to raise the neckline just a wee bit. The back on the large is still a bit snug though. Do you agree?

I think the dress looks perfect in the next size up. It's fitted but not overly so--especially if you will be wearing a jacket over it. Love the belted pants with the tucked top--uber cute! Your legs look a mile long in that silhouette!

I love the pants - great find. I also love the dress on you. I think the larger size fits nicely in the back. If you are still concerned you could try another shaped bra perhaps?

I like the Karen Kane dress in the next size up. To me, this size fits you perfectly, you might even want to get more dresses in different colors, because dang it, this dress looks *that* good on you.

Love the dress on you - one size up works better to my eye - and you have beautiful porcelaine skin - so no problem with white. Just imagine the range of jackets you can wear with this.
Love your hair appt outfit - lovely deep maroon (?) topper with a great fitting pair of jeans. Belt and shoes really complement it well.

I think this dress in the larger size is great on you. The neckline and waist look like they're in the right place to me.

I've had this dress on my wishlist for weeks, in two different sizes. I'm going to order it in the larger size now, sounds like it runs a bit small.

Kellygirl - thanks! Glory - good idea on the bra as I need a new one anyway. CocoLion, I do want a 3/4 sleeve dress so I'll pay heed to your suggestion about getting more of the same. Merwoman, such a way with words....porcelaine skin sounds so much better than pale. Cinnamon fern, I look forward to seeing a pic of you in the dress too!

Thanks everyone for the WIW compliments! The outfit, as simple as it is, isn't something I would have thought to put together prior to joining this form.

This dress is a stunner on you! Gorgeous. If you are worried about the front being too low, you probably can make that V close up a little with a few stitches. It it a lovely silhouette for you and a definite keeper!!

I love your WIW, too. Great outfit with the white jeans and darker top and the metallics. Lovely colour for you, too.

I spotted your post first thing this morning but didn't have time to log in. Wow that dress is stunning. So figure flattering and I think the color and pattern work beautifully for you. Next size up -- perfection! This print is great, will be versatile and the style is flattering.

But do try a new bra when you get a chance. Seems to me your bra is riding up too high. You could also just try this: loosen the straps a lot. Tug the back down a few inches lower, and if necessary, adjust the band tighter so it stays lower. See if that doesn't help.

May I ask where you got the top in pic 4? That whole outfit is also perfection.

Thanks for the tips Shiny, I'll give that a try. The maroon top is from Ann Taylor and I see everything is 30% off this weekend. I should probably get another one in white.
