Well, I already bought but suppose I have another 15 minutes in which to return while sister continues shopping.

I slipped this on for fun and she instantly thought I should buy it. I have long been wanting a cropped, sporty navy blazer. I like it from the front, even if it's slightly snug. I would wear open. The back looks a bit funny to me. It's not padded in the shoulder.

Also is this something worth $150? To rephrase: I guess I'm paying for it to be from J. Crew, and is the cachet worth it? It's made of wool but lightweight (which I like). Also it's very subtle, but there's a pinstripe. I figure this wouldn't clash with anything.

Do you think it's a 10? It would have to be, but I don't have to return it today--I'll be back to visit my parents within another two weeks.

Sorry, this is not good in the back and a jacket should fit as if tailored to your own shape, even if it wasn't actually necessary.

Sis took another pic and it seems resolved. Maybe it's the diagonal seam? Anyway she thinks it's perfect FWIW.

I don't think it's a 10 based on these pictures, Nancy. Fit looks funny. HOWEVER, it could be that the lining is sticking and also you are holding the camera, which affects things. Can you get someone else to take the photos? That can help us get a better sense of proportion, too.

The fit on the back looks odd to me, maybe a little wide in the shoulders and I think the armholes are too deep.

I'm not sufficiently impressed with the fit (I agree with your observations). At $150 I would want you to be over the moon on fit and happiness factor -- you shouldn't have to settle.

I'd like to see pics taken at home. I can barely see the details from front and side, and the lighting may be casting weird shadows for the back view, too.

Hi, Rae. Thanks for suggestions. I just went back there not a half hour ago and returned it. It wasn't quite good enough (but confirmed that I really would love a PPP version).

My sister has a very good sense of style so I was momentarily swayed, and we were in a bit of a rush. Anyway as soon as the replies started coming in and I read them to her, she said of YLF members, "Picky m-f-ers!" LOL. "Yup!" I said. Then I made her not buy a sweater that gaped a little at the be neck.

I don't think the fit is a 10 from these pics, Nancy. Something is off in the back, and I see some pulling on the sleeve in the front view that also would seem to indicate a fit problem. I think it might actually be cut too broad in the back and not wide enough in the front for you (this is not an unusual fit issue for me, so I'm starting to recognize it). I could be wrong, so if you take some more pics at home, please share!

You did the right thing to return it. I'm sure there is another, better version of this jacket out there somewhere.

I've returned it, Janet. Yes, too much room in the shoulders and the sleeves also seemed baggy (which I wouldn't have expected--too long, yes).

Though for a truly stellar jacket I would consider alterations, if doable.

Looks like you are all set, but I echo the sentiment to return. It was not a 10, and you;d be settling. Look at Isabel's post. Settling never works in the long term
