Hi friends! I ordered a bright red/orange casual jacket. The idea was to wear it with casual outfits or to dress it up a little for work. I like the color but not sure about the style.
The second one is more difficult. A light wool dark red classic blazer. I kind of love it, both the color and the fabric. But unsure about the length. It seems to be in between a shorter style, which I wear a lot and have many, and a long blazer, which might be more on trend at the moment. I didn’t bother about the length at first, but now I am unsure whether to keep it. Style wise I would have a lot of use for it, but is there a better cut for my proportions?
I have not styled any of these, just wear them over my WFH outfit, so please excuse the wrinkly trousers and no shoes.

I would very much appreciate your valuable help here.

Great finds! You have the best style. The first coat is obviously a winner. I also adore the second jacket, both the killer shape and colour. I do kinda see what you mean with the awkward lenght. I hate that bum enlaring and leg shortening effect on my self, and shun that length. Maybe it can work with a longer dress or skirt?

Thank you Synne! Exactly the effect I suspect is happening here… Unfortunately, I don’t wear skirts or dresses so much, almost always some type of trousers. I wonder if there would be some other shape of trousers which would go with this length… Maybe bootcuts with some substantial footwear to balance the “bum enlargement” :-)?

I like both jackets! The first one is perfect in color and shape- fab on you!
The second looks more classic in shape to my eye - great find as well. Love it like it is now - wouldn’t stress over proportions much ( slim leg pants and strong shoes/thicker sole/platform should be good ).

Oh my ! Give me that orange coat ! I love wearing jackets / coats that length as it’s so so versatile . I like the dark red blazer on you : it’s very classic but still very flattering .

So slim leg pants and heavier shoes or boots might help…. Thinking oxfords with a tractor sole or chunky Chelsea boots….

I don’t see any problem whatsoever with the length of the red blazer. Maybe because I have one in this length

A few thoughts:

Do you need to shorten the sleeves of the orange?
Try the red jacket with a lower contrast bottom, and you might feel better about the length. I do hear you about the length though. I tend to like my blazers shorter, but wear this length too!

Beautiful jackets on you! The orange looks amazing, and I like Angie’s suggestion to try a lower-contrast bottom with the red blazer.

Katerina - you look tdf stunning. I love the orange jacket. Color is wonderful and the clean simple lines keep is classy and your accessories will have a gorgeous back drop. I absolutely love the red blazer. The color makes you glow. Fit looks perfect. I have no issues with length and didn’t notice until I read your comment. You are very well proportioned. This does not detract. It’s absolutely stunning. But of course you need to love it. I have a bunch of blazers this length. I love them.

The orange one looks fantastic and very much you. I have more qualms about the red, even though the color and fit are both excellent. I think you need to style it a few ways and see how you feel about it.

My immediate thought on the red jacket was "wow!" I couldn't see any concern about the length. It is so flattering, just with this outfit alone (and I know it wasn't meant to be an "outfit"). I like it over the white pants--that shape of pant seems to work splendidly with it, proportionally. I agree with you that the color is unquestionably good--stunning on you. So I vote keep!

The orange jacket is super fun, and like Angie, I wondered whether you would shorten the sleeves, or maybe roll them?

You look amazing in both jackets. The deep red looks fine to my eye with your white pants. Do you have pants that are closer to the color of the red? Even brown or navy or grey might give you an idea of what lower contrast would look like.
I vote that you keep both jackets they are very different in color and style.

I definitely did NOT notice any unflattering effects from the red blazer; I think both jackets are fabulous on you. The orange is such a great color and length, and the red is so classic; it could go with almost anything, including the outfit you put it on with. I vote keep on both!

Wow - and this is when you are not styled! They look beautiful, but you have to love them too. For me, the orange coat is just divine, such a gorgeous colour on you.

I have received so much positive comments on the orange jacket - I think it will be a keeper.

I love the deep red blazer for many reasons - the fabric is very nice, thin soft wool mixed with some elastan - super comfortable. I also like how it fits on the shoulders and the chest - lies flat as it should, no creases…. The color works with many other colors, and like Angie, I use red almost like a neutral. As for the length - I will try to do a proper styling with different bottoms and different footwear to try to see the whole silhouette.

Angie and Joy, how do I find the “right” low contrast colors - I don’t have the same red trousers. I was thinking medium to dark grey, or burgundy, or darker blue - although navy might be high contrast? How should I think here?

Oh, forgot to say that yes, the sleeves on the orange jacket are too long - I will have them shortened. It should be quite easy as there are no buttons or cuffs - just a clean chop….

What Firecracker said. The red blazer is my favorite—holds its own shape. With your long legs, you can take the blazer’s horizontal finish. No hip widening to my eye, even with high contrast trousers.

I like them both, and hope you keep them. What brand are they?
I think you will have no problem with styling the red blazer.

Those are great colors on you, particularly the orange. Funny that this is just what you happened to have on, because I feel like the blue/white is good with them both too. Side effect of a well-functioning wardrobe I guess.
I’m going to be a spanner and say that it doesn’t sound like you would wear the red jacket much, because it is very similar to things you have a lot of, but the added length makes it a little “less” in your eyes. Looking forward to what you decide after styling it. As to the right low contrast bottoms to wear with it, did you see Runcarla’s finale to the 10x3? Top and bottom are reversed, but I do think her skirt is a similar color. She’s great with colors anyway, so maybe the other things she wore with that skirt could give you good ideas too.

They both look fantastic on you. I see no issues with the length of the second one — I would avoid it myself because that hem would hit my widest point, but you don’t have that issue! I think it suits you very well.

I love both of these on you. Love the orange color and the style of it and I don't see a problem with the red at all. Can't wait to see it styled but I think it looks really great on you.
