My parents and some relatives from back home very generously sent me some birthday money and insisted I spend it on "some nice clothes for myself", which is so nice considering my very limited clothing budget this season. I have decided to use it for some J Crew pieces as I am head over heels for their collection this season, and to go for one investment piece and some fun separates from the leftovers. A classic coat in a pretty color seemed like a perfect way to go.
So, I ordered the Lady Day Coat in cornflower blue during the 30% off promotion. I was thinking of trying a tall size with my very long torso but by the time I made up my mind they were all sold out, so I ordered it in regular size 2. The first two photos show it worn over a silk blouse and the third one shows it worn over a thicker sweater, with which I have just the right amount of space. I only want to keep it if the fit is perfect.
I love the quality, the color and the fit around the shoulders. The size is definitely the correct one. I need to make sure that the fit around the waist area is correct before committing to it. With my very long torso garments with waist bands like this can sometimes hit me a bit higher then intended. Sometimes that looks off but at other times it is actually a good thing because it visually shortens my torso and lengthens my short legs. So, what do you think about the fit of this coat in general? About the waistband fit? If it hits a little high is it in a good or a bad way?
