K/R J Crew denim pencil skirt ETA Keeper!

I got this lovely J Crew skirt in the mail. I haven't been feeling denim skirts for a long time now, but I thought this might be a nice addition at this midi length, which makes this a rather elegant iteration of a denim skirt. The advantage of this is that it can be dressed up or down as needed. That said, I am not sure if it's too long; I want to make sure it checks out with those of you who are more up on proportions than me. Please advise!

(It could probably be altered, but given the vent in the back, I'd probably be overcharged for it.)

ETA - it passes the YLF test. Keeping! I may even wear this exact outfit soon. The top is a new one from beachlunchlounge via TJ MAxx (no find)--a way for me to participate in the animal print trend without wearing earth tones.

Love the length. How does it feel? I have a BR denim pencil skirt that I thought I'd wear all the time but it doesn't have as much give as my knit ones so it doesn't see nearly as much wear. It also has buttons all down the front and it skews kind of casual. Your is great!

It feels good, kellygirl. Stretchy enough that I don’t feel too hobbled in it, plus it does have the back vent. I could pair a bunch of tops with it, including the one I have on in the picture. I see it as a possible versatile workhorse.

My only concern is figuring out if I can wear boots with it. And if so, which ones.

When I read the title I was prepared for a negative review, since I find denim skirts are a big NO due to the big 'ole zipper that seems to always be right over the tummy. But....this looks GOOD (!) and you have styled it so well! I'm okay with the length.

I think that the length is fine on you,enjoy wearing it!

Your Borns might be streamlined enough. I've only worn sock booties with it and my close fitting ankle booties but I wasn't thrilled with the latter. It's fine with sandals.

Runcarla - thanks! The zipper is in the back, which is certainly ONE reason I prefer this to others denim skirts I've seen. It really is a pencil skirt rendered in denim rather than a denim skirt, if you know what I mean.

Kellygirl - yes, streamlined is called for. either of these Borns might work. I have never had any luck finding sock booties, but I'll keep an eye out--the heels are usually too high got me.

Sadly, all the fall/winter stuff is in storage, so I can't try it with boots now. But I like the skirt (and the length is getting the thumbs up), and will happily wear it during transition season and less stifling summer days.

I like it the shape keeps it from looking like you belong to a religious cult.
I looked at the find and only size 28 is left in what looks like a bright blue on my monitor.

Joy - when I added the find a few days ago, there was pretty much a full size run! I guess J Crew had better make more. This was the only color they made, as far as I saw.

That being said, I took the same size I take in J Crew and other jeans. So it's TTS, if anyone wants one and is a size 28! I'm sure returns will make other sizes pop up.

The length, at least in pics #2 and #3, looks perfect on you. Any longer and would look like you are wearing someone else's skirt, and any shorter beyond 3/4" and it would be near the widest part of your calf and not so flattering.

KEEP! I found and returned a denim skirt at J Crew. I have regretted it to this day. Don't do that.

Sterling - I wouldn't want any denim skirt regrets! I haven't missed denim skirts since the last time I had one, but this is a better iteration than I've found in the past.
