K/R ivory chunky pullover

I got this pullover from Tommy Hilfiger's yesterday. I seriously need an ivory cable knit sweater in my closet and would love to get one from Gap that has now become the YLF sweater but I am not into turtlenecks.
Does this look dated? With everything so oversized, it looks to me that this is almost too snug fitting and short. Please help!!!!
If this does not meet YLF approval, I will keep looking for a chunky cable knit in ivory which is looser fitting.

Mona, what look are you going for? To be honest, this sweater does look a bit dated to me. I think it is too short for jeans and while it is sweet, there is something about it that is not saying young and fashion forward. Also I'm not sure this is really a cable knit. It doesn't look substantial and chunky enough. I don't think think this is enough for you:)

Deborah, you are right. It is not a cable knit. It is more of an open weave. I am looking for something oversized and chunky but they all come with turtleneck. I am not a big fan of turtleneck. My sister is also of the same opinion that it looks like something mom would wear LOL!

This isn't exactly cable knit either, but gives a nod to it with the back detail.

Cable knits say preppy to me, probably because I was addicted to them during a preppy phase in my younger days. I think with a jacket this could work. The dog looks good too (see link)

i think it has possibilities. I'm wanting it to be a bit longer and chunkier. I like the idea of wearing something longer underneath.

While you're looking for the perfect, updated knit, I think this could work well if you layered a longer top (maybe a plaid shirt or a saturated color knit?) underneath. I also think this would add texture underneath a boyfriend jacket or a denim jacket. Also, worn with a skirt, scarf and boots, the shorter length would be terrific.

I think this is nice but it does not really give a chunky sweater vibe. A bit short for pants (unless you wear a longer top or jacket) but I bet it would look great with skirts.

I think it depends on what you want.

Personally I love the all-over delicate pattern of this sweater. I also love the modified crew neck (more room at the neck exposes a bit more collar bone. Also I prefer slimmer fits and lengths that cut off at the top of my hip. The good thing about a slimmer cut is that it's ideal for layering jackets and other sweaters over it. My old sweater goes great under blazers and oversized cardigans.

Choose a sweater and cut that will get the most use in your wardrobe.
