K/R Inspired by Jonesy - YouLookFab Forum

I tried on this Vince Camuto top a couple of months ago with a tomato red stretchy midi pencil skirt. Loved it, but it's price was a little to rich for my budget. Well, today it was 40 percent off at Macy's and, by giving $3 to save the Rain Forest (sounds good to me), I saved another 20 percent. Since my 20 percent off lasted for the whole day, I browsed the shoe sales and find the black cage wedge sandals I'm wearing.

This top is my version of a Jonesy look: less edgy, less RATE, less, well, leggy, but the silhouette is there and the print suits me. This top has a drawstring bottom. Since it's a blouson is it OK that is a little shorter than my knit tops worn with pants? Is it too widening, or is the waist-surrendering working? It is very new to me to consider anything but trying to look as skinny as possible, so I'm a little unsure here. BTW -- the flowers run up the back, too.

1. My Jonesy pose -- paring the top with denim skimmers. New sandals (Style & Co.) on left, tan Dr. Scholl's on right. I like the black with the skirt (next photo), but are they stumpifying here? They do make my legs look curvy (in a good way) from the side.

2. Same top with my denim pencil skirt. Does this work for a more casual de-bombshelled pencil skirt? Which shoes?

3/4 Fire Britches! I like the color combo here, but it here I wonder about the length of the top. ????? Yes, I think I'll need flats, since I'm violating PPL. I need 33-34 inch inseam (and I'm only5'6") if I'm to wear heels.

Shall I keep the shoes? The top?

Love this top on you Beth Ann! It looks fantastic with the skirt. I do find it a wee bit short for the clams and fire britches but I will leave it to the experts for more advice on that.

Love the top and both pairs of shoes. I do agree with Shannon that length of the top looks best the skirt. What can I say, Angie has trained us well!

The top is lovely on you. I like it with the skirt and the red pants. The red pants look like they taper in, so are they skinnies? If so, then skinnies are fine to wear with heels without worrying about PPL. You could also try folding them in a bit for the cropped pants look with heels.

I'm on the fence about the black shoes. I'm wondering if that diamond pattern will date quickly.

Lovely new top. I like it best with skirt but also with red pants ( I still love those!) but not sure why I don't with the clams. I think the ppl is fine with the sandals and red pants but I am not an expert. I see some nice break on the hem of pants where it hits top of foot so it's good to my eye.
Like the black sandals as well.

I like both items and like this style direction for you!

As for footwear: I like the black sandals with the capris. With the skirt, both shoes work to my eye, although the black looks a little edgier. And with the red pants, I like the nude shoes quite a bit better.

I think the length of the red pants is fine. When pants are skinny or straight legged, I think PPL rules are different. Otherwise, the pants will scrunch a whole lot. Skinny / straights are meant to show much more shoe than Boot Cuts. If they were red boot cuts, then I would agree you need more length.

Definitely keep the shoes and top, they both look great! I agree with all of CocoLion's fit comments.

I also agree with Denise on the PPL question, and the top is beautiful! I vote keep on shoes and top. I like the black shoes better than the nude in all of these photos because it stands up to the black and bold colors in the top. Especially love the top with the skirt.

The length of your red jeans is perfect! What Denise said is spot on.

The new top is utterly sensational on you too! A 10! I really like it in #1 and #2 because of the low contrast between the top and the bottom. I like it less with the red bottoms, but the length isn't too bad at all.

Thanks, everyone for your helpful replies. With length, I always feel like pants and tops are both too short, and I can never find the perfect rise in pants for me. At 5'6" I can't possibly be both long waisted and long legged! Still, I like the deep saturation of color on the top, and the volume was just about right -- not too voluminous and boho. It's also washable and wearable without a cami, which is great in a hot summer climate!

I am so loving wedges these days. They're very practical, particularly when you want a little height with stability.

I wish I could have posted the inspiration from Jonesy, but the picture had been removed.

It is interesting because it is the high contrast between the top and the red pants that take my breath away. You look fabulous. I am torn about the shoe choice though. It seems I should like the black more (because that is what I always wear), but I am truly leaning toward the lighter sandal.

Meanwhile, I do not like the low contrast at all. I think this says more about me though than the outfits. You look wonderful.

And for the shoes, I seem to be leaning toward the lighter sandal.

I like the top with all and both the sandals are also great in different ways. Firebritches don't look to short to me at all and the clams look terrific on you!

I love that top! Love the Jonesy pose with the sunglasses too! Angie has spoken on the length issues, and I'm glad she said it wasn't too short to wear with pants! I have the same problem as you do. Average length shirts (not tunics, but regular shirts) are usually a bit shorter on me than everyone else. I'm doing good if I can overlap the rise of my jeans by several inches and remain covered.

You look terrific in this top.....ooooo, it would be really sweet with a white skirt or clams too if you have them. Enjoy!

Beth Ann, I love #1 with your black denim skimmers (great smile, too!) and your new VC blouse works equally well with the skirt in #2 and the red pants, so the top has "legs" with many varieties. I, too, prefer the black sandals over the nude ones in #1. I loved how you save some $$$ for yourself, as well as a few trees! Good work.

I am glad you raised the top length issue because I had the same question this morning. I often buy petite tops to fit my short arms, short waisted, and generally small frame. But they verge on being too short for my overall body length. So sometimes I'm left questioning. I think this one works on you but prefer it with the lower contrast.

I am honored I tell you! Gosh. I love this top on you, and I think it looks great with every bottom you've paired it with. I prefer the dark sandals (go bold!), but I'm not really a nude shoe super-fan.
