K/R: How useful is a dressy jumpsuit?

I had Trunk Club send me some things for an upcoming wedding. Included was a dressy jumpsuit. I was very happy with a dress that was sent, so I'm set for the wedding. The wedding is scheduled in such a way that there isn't going to be an invitation to any official wedding related events, otherwise, I'd wear the jumpsuit and be happy. Now I'm hesitating over the jumpsuit--cute, comfortable and flattering and the fabric doesn't wrinkle. I have already have shoes that would look cute with it. BUT, I don't presently have a plan or a purpose for it. Interestingly, there is dress version of this same style that was NOT flattering, AT ALL, it captured every lump and bump and panty line.

The sleeves and neckline are not deal breakers for me to wear to work, if I wanted to. But, where does a jumpsuit go? I don't have a brunch-and-bridesmaid shower lifestyle, lol. Just sort of work stuff and the odd casual work event. Do I keep it because it **might** come in handy?

I say no. It doesn't sound like your lifestyle has a lot of these events, so by the time one does come around, you might discover you want something different.

It depends how much you love it. And if you would wear it for these occasions. I would wear this to a casual dinner/ bbq or work dinner. Does it work with a layer over - this makes it more useful too.

It sounds like an outlier that you may be sick of, even if it didn't get worn, by the time an event rolls around. I have a couple of those in my closet!
For me, part of the joy of getting invited to celebratory events is in the search for just the right clothing for the occasion; so I like to find the item that (hopefully) makes me sparkle with that certain event in mind.

Good decision. Haha, I once had a jumpsuit and never had a jumpsuit emergency come up. I’ll never buy one again. I tell myself, you realize you can do that with a nice blouse and pants right? Except you can pee?

It looks like something you could wear to work, not just for a dressy occasion-but, yup, the bathroom issue...

I would not keep a one-piece jump suit but my experience has been bad. Not a good thing to wear going out to diner or anywhere you need to use a public restroom because you pretty much need to disrobe. It can be a real hassle if you are having drinks.
Look at the view of the back in a full length mirror. It may not be how you want to look. Some tend to make hips look baggy and low or very wide. If fabric is clingy, it will cling.

I absolutely love the look of jumpsuits!
Hate the hassle :(. The fit can be tricky too depending on where your waist is in relation to the jumpsuits idea of where it should be !

NOT useful at all, but super cute when you wear them....every few years. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.....

I've been resisting the urge to add another jumpsuit for the past year. I do have one. I bought it on sale at Macy's so it didn't cost all that much. I found I wore it a lot more than I expected, to work (with a blazer) and to social events. But yeah... one is enough.

I wore my jumpsuits last summer waaaay more than I thought I would. That said, they were a little more casual and you may find thats harder to style as it is dressier. Its really cute though...

Nordstrom often discounts Maggy London A LOT at the end of the season. If you are still thinking about this dress in a couple of months, you might be able to get it for a better price. Obviously not a sure strategy, but a maybe for a maybe piece.

I really like it but it sounds like separates could make a similar look and be more versatile and easier.

I have two jumpsuits. In my experience a casual jumpsuit is far more wearable.

I bought this one last fall and wore it twice - the Met Opera and a cruise formal dinner. Then again last week to the ballet in San Francisco. So far only three wears, but I still am happy I bought it. But I probably will stick with just one.
