K/R: Harley Davidson boots

These arrived earlier than expected. I am looking for a sleeker midcalf version of black boots to vary up with the Gidigios. These are comfy and have a solid manageable heel which is nice. I do own the Phillip Harness boots in a very RATE black - they are a little shorter and do not have a heel.

Thoughts? Obviously these are not most people's idea of dressy but they are as dressy as it gets for me...

Is this a difficult boot height to style?

Your shoulders look awesome.

I don't care for the big badge on the shaft of these. I like the idea and definitely think a sleeker mid calf boot is something you should get, but I don't think these are them!

I love that dress on you! Shouldery? Huh? Your shoulders are a good thing! I actually like the boots - they are oddly sleek and badass at the same time.

OMG Keep! Keep! Keep! Love them and am jealous. I haven't much advice about styling. I love them with a dress, with bootcuts over, with shorts and tights (for the really adventurous).

I was looking at those boots too, but didn't really like the logo prominence. If you like the logo - keep them

The badge does make them less dressy despite the sleekness, but from what you describe, I think it's still Alaska Dressy. I actually find this boot height the easiest to style of all my boots. I think I'm a keep vote!

I agree with Rae about this height of boot being the easiest to style; I far prefer boots this height to any others. I really like the look of these and the leather looks like quality. I vote keep, as well.

First, your shoulders are awesome and I love you in that dress.

I like them, but don't love them. For boots like this I prefer a little bit lower of a heel. And I do like a higher heel often times, but the balance is a bit off on this pair, to my eye. The most worn pair of boots (or any footwear actually) in my entire closet is a pair of mid calf moto boots. I wear them constantly, and all through the winter. For something with tremendous wear potential I would strive for close to perfect.

I must have been very tired yesterday when I mistakenly assumed you were getting the cognac boots? Or did I miss out on something where you changed your mind? Anyway, here are the black boots. They are nice enough. I wouldn't love the logo on them, but it's dealable, and where you are, would not stand out.

I guess my only fault with them is that to me they express the same type of RATE sentiment of your Gidigios, without the extra design coolness. To me they just don't differentiate enough. But that's just me. They're somewhat different and if you say they fulfill your sleek boot requirements, then get them.

(ETA you look great in that kickin' dress. And those are shoulders to die for. Be proud!)

First, you look fabulous in that dress and your shoulders are strong and gorgeous! From someone with "wimpy" shoulders, I look at yours with envy.

Now to the boots, I love the height of the shaft and the way they fit around your leg, the heel shape and height is perfect and I like the buckle placement. The logo badge doesn't really bother me - they're biker boots so why not show that they're Harley biker boots?

I'm not sure they're dressier than your Gidigios but they are another option, which is good because you don't want to wear out your Gidigios too quickly. Are they different enough for you?

How's the quality of the HDs? I've picked them up in the past but put them down because the leather wasn't as nice as I would have liked.

I like the shaft height and the two buckles and the toe shape. I'm not so fond of the HD badge, but if you're okay with it, it's all good. Not like the badge is at eye level or anything.

Will the outcome of the Bedstu's have any influence on this decision?

I like the shape and the heel height actually. I particularly like how they fit your calf well and don't look too big. And the leather looks pretty nice to me. But I'm with everyone else on the logo plaque, can it be removed do you think?

I too would like the boots better without the obvious branding. You're too fab on your own terms to need that.

I find they are pretty sleek for moto boots. I don't know *how* dressy you need the, to be, but to me they are more so than the Gidigios. I too am not a big fan of branding on the side, but this one is pret small, and not too noticeable. Love you in a colorful dress!

I like them. My dressy boots are very similar HDs with a 3" heel. The logo wouldn't bother me at all.

Thanks everyone! The logo is pretty small and not removable. It doesn't bother me but it does give me pause that it may bug others. Rae is correct that these are Alaska dressy - I could wear these to court and no one would bat an eye.

IK, they seem sturdy though not glove leather soft - the reviews are all great and some are from real biker chicks.

I am having a little boot confusion... I've cleared out a lot of my older boots that were not getting worn (or were literally worn out!), and now I'm struggling to decide if the best alternative to the Gidigio boots (not a substitute but a variation) is:

midcalf or some other height
RATE/cognac
RATE/black
polished/cognac
polished/black

(and by polished I mean something at the level of these Harley boots - I'm never going to wear kitten or pointy-heeled boots, both style and safety-wise!)

The only thing I know is that I don't need booties right now - I can wear my DV Jousts and will have to replace them when they wear out but booties are really not practical in winter here.

Any enlightening thoughts?

alaskagirl, I just wanted to chime in and let you know I bought a pair of brown H-D boots earlier this year and I love them (these are mine, shown here in black: http://www.altrec.com/harley-d.....s_all=true).

They are very comfortable, there was hardly any break in period and they seem to be made very well. I agree that the leather is not that soft but overall I give mine a very positive review. I find the midcalf height to be very flexible and these are the most worn boots in my closet so far.

Zap, those are gorgeous! But I need a fitted shaft, which for me ideally would be 12". I've found that even with my RATE boots, I don't like gapping. Drat my scrawny calves!

Thanks, abc! Those are fab boots. H-Ds seem to get good reviews, and they are not outrageously priced either.
