K/R: Grey Straight Legged Jeans, Two Sizes

I've had these straight-legged grey jeans on my wishlist for a while and tried them in two sizes, my regular size(#1-4) and a size up (#5-8). Are either worth considering? I like the ease of the size up in the thighs, but not the width at the hems.

It depends on what your going for. I think if you want a more slouchy, relaxed look, go with the size up. Personally, I like the ones that are your size, but I'm not very big on the slouchy look, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Have you any reviews about them? Like how much they may shrink after going though the wash?

I like them both rolled so much. For unrolled, I think I like the bigger ones a tiny bit more? The unrolled straight legs keep making my eye want them to taper at the ankle. For rolled I think it's whichever look you are going for, the smaller ones look a bit trimmer/sleeker, but the bigger rolled ones are appealing slouchy cool -- both are good.

I really like the wash on those. In terms of fit, your regular size looks great. The size up seems to have a boyfriend-y feel without being all the way there, which isn't bad if that's what you're going for, but I think I like the smaller ones better.

I agree, it depends on what kind of fit you want. I like them both, but have a slight preference for the looser fit. But then I've stopped wearing my fit to size skinny jeans.

What brand are these? I love the color/wash.

I say regular - they don't look tight. The bigger ones are veering just a bit too casual/sloppy for your style I think, they don't look totally intentional.

I like them both, Emily. I think I have a slight preference for the larger ones for the reason rabbit said -- they seem to look better unrolled than the others do. But either will be a great addition to your closet.

I like them both, and I have a similar pair of grey straight-leg jeans. Mine fit more like the bigger size (except too narrow in the thigh, blah...) so I'm inclined towards that one but it's definitely a more RATE look.

I find it hard to make good cuffs with so much extra fabric, so here are my two solutions. May not be a problem for you, but just in case!
1. Instead of rolling the cuff, do a double fold: if you want say a 2" cuff, first fold up 4", then double that up on itself.
2. Remember how we pegged our jeans in the 90s? I find myself doing that recently to make a more baggy boyfriend look with a low cuff. Make a pleat at the bottom and roll up a narrow cuff, twice. May be an acquired taste and not for everyone!

Yep -- larger for full length, smaller for rolling.

I realize that helps you not one whit unless you know how you want to wear them at all times.

Both work well. The smaller size is a more conventionally attractive look and the larger has more of a BF vibe. I have a slight preference for the smaller because it looks better rolled. Love the color and wash.

These are nice trousers. With the larger size, they look more like BF's when rolled up.

I like the regular size. Since those have spandex, I would assume they'd stretch out a bit with wear, so that's something to keep in mind.

As others have said, I like the larger size unrolled and the smaller size rolled. I would keep the larger size, but perhaps you need both.

Emily - I like both sizes. I often buy two different sizes in my jeans for different looks. I have the Lucky Bran lola (one size up) for a relaxed skinny (I don't like tight) and two sizes up for a slouchy boyfriend look but with a narrow opening. Love both and different looks. Also you can always have the cuff tapered although thought Greyscale had a good idea with pegging the cuffs!!

The larger size looks more "at ease" to me if you are going for the current more fluid fit, and I think it is still completely flattering on you.

Thanks everyone for chiming in - extra thanks to Greyscale for the tip about pegging. I thought about it a fair bit and both will be going back, for a few reasons:

I have a limited threshold for RATE in my wardrobe and the DV boots I am exchanging are a bit RATE, too
I don't need very many jeans and will definitely be adding a new dark, skinny pair
I honestly can't decide which pair I like better!
I'm just not as excited about them as I was when I ordered them
