K/R: grey jacket

Speaking of the little grey jacket, here it is on me. It is a lot longer and more voluminous in the sleeves than I thought it would be, and it is rather clingy, but unfortunately this is the largest size available.

Thoughts? I'm pretty sure it is going back, unless someone sees anything redeeming.

Please ignore my extremely unflattering t-shirt and fluffy hair... I look pretty hideous in these photos all around!

As for the jacket, I would return. The fit isn't right when closed, while it looks better open, I think it is too long.

Not sure if this is an outdoor coat or blazer. If blazer, length is too long. If outdoor, the fit when closed is off, and I demand full sleeves from outside wear!

Yes, the problem is not you, you look beautiful. I think the fabric is too clingy here. Cute idea, though!

I agree with thistle, it looks better open. It might work at that length if styled right but probably a bit too long also. I think you can find better.

I agree with everyone else, it does look better open. The color is really nice on you but the jacket isn't quite there, although the off center zipper and collar are slick : )

Mander: I have both a assymetrical zippered ponte moto and a ruched poplin moto that I love and wear a lot. I think a little more substantial construction and weight of fabric and a slightly shorter length would be amazing.

There is a jacket out there!

I am totally with Beth Ann. YOU look great, but will look even better with a more structured fabric jacket in a shorter cut. I do like this colour on you.

I vote return. Neither the colopr nor the cut and the fabric is making up to your fab self Mander!:-((. Esp not for a conferrence outfit, you've planned for...(I missed that thread, but searched back for my ref).
I don't know why are you so afraid buying a real (wool/jersey/cotton/linnen) blazer?
I mean not a very formal one, like all black tux, or so...there are plenty of more casual blazers(jackets) out there, in a good, more substantial weight fabric, and a more structurred cut which will fit you gorgeous-, and will do a really good job with jeans(your fav. uniform:-)) for casuals and and even a dress or a pencil for a smart casual!
Please, take my words to your hear and start looking for a real (BF?) blazer.

Agree with the others that this is too long and the fabric too insubstantial. I do like the idea of a more structured, shorter, moto-style jacket for you.

@lyn67: The problem is finding one! I've been hunting for a blazer for ages, and while they seem to be everywhere in straight sizes, I have found very few in plus sizes here -- and almost nothing that isn't black polyester.

So, back it goes, and I'll keep hunting.

mander...i understand your frustration re finding jackets that fit that are not black poly. but this jacket does you no favors. better no jacket than an ill-fitting one.

i wouldn't look for a "blazer" per se. you are looking for a topper which could be a structured knit jacket or substantial cardi, or a moto jacket (leather a bonus). especially since your industry skews casual.

So sorry to hear that, Mander. It's hard to find a good blazer no matter the size, but I had a feeling you are not even looking for one, fearing will be too formal-but trust me, you cannot go wrong in a good blazer!
Sorry I am in the EU- we have this company with lots of plus size options, I think they ship internationally, too-:-)- prices are resonable.

Mander, will you be wearing it open or closed? I actually like the length and love how it looks worn open in the second picture. Sorry to hear that it's going back, but I think you are on the right track. Now you have me yearning for a ponte moto.
