K/R: gold leather skirt for Sundance

This skirt runs offensively small but I got the right size thanks to reviews. What do we think? Unstyled here...

So here's the issue - a skirt is more versatile but also requires topper! Any suggestions?

Rae, have you seen this skirt? It is a beautiful burnished gold like the OTBTs. And it's lined. Pretty short considering I am 5'1". But the waist to hip proportion is cut for an hourglass. I will never tuck into it but I had to size up to an 8 to zip it. I am normally a 4 or 6 on the bottom.

You have the leather, so with GOT I think you should definitely have something furry/fuzzy/draped/all of the above! Would one of your leather jackets work?

I feel so much like the outlier here, but I'm going to get brave and say this anyway. Love the skirt, the color, the cut. But (to my eye) the fit seems too wide/big. Almost like it's standing away from your hips. Hard to tell, exactly, with these poses. I know you said you had to size way up for the waist and it was cut for an hourglass. Do the side seams then need to be altered to fit a little closer to your hips/legs?

Thanks all! And especially for the topper suggestions/inspiration pix... Furry looks like the way to go! I have a couple of ideas now... I have two furry scarves. Stay tuned.

Liz, thank you! You have a good eye, this is indeed wide on my hips, but I'm hoping that balances out the short leather skirt effect. Plus as an IT, I can use a little width there. As long as it doesn't look like a poor fit, of course.

Yes, I think it looks great and I can't imagine a gold skirt before now.
I think a top that is not black would be good, to get away from the image of the more predictable gold & black evening-wear combo, although that is a no-brainer fallback option with the burnished gold.

I think the cut is interestiing in that it is not a typical tapered pencil skirt, but it still works and in fact the fluidity makes it look fresh and not as self-important or dressy. Kind of like a plaid booster skirt--that sounds weird, I know, but meaning the gold leather is not as "precious" when styled that way and looks more off-hand, which I like, but then is NOT a plaid booster skirt at all. A boxy fuzzy cobalt sweater? Of course cream would be great if that is a color you wear. Burgundy?
