K/R: Gap blazers petite vs regular size

My petite sized blazer finally came!

1-2. Petite navy blue with piping

3-4. Regular sized grey with piping

5. Cobalt blue academy blazer in regular size (not available in petite)

The petite fits much better in the sleeves, and it is shorter overall. I am definitely keeping the cobalt blue one (sent it off to get sleeves shortened already). I will likely get the gray color, but I can't decide if the petite or regular sizing is better with the length of the jacket. If I get the regular size, I will either need to get the sleeves shortened or only wear it with the sleeves rolled or scrunched since it is too long. Decisions, decisions ... any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I love the gray one with the sleeves scrunched. I'm a petite and I felt like the petite was too short in the body for me. But the navy one looks great on you, too!

So I guess I'm pretty much no help at all!

Ooh, great visuals. I think the length of the regular is perfect. Nice sleeve scrunching too. I think the petite size would work for a skirt, perhaps.

I think Angie said that her clients scrunched them--it is a BF style after all. I wonder how much alteration would cost if you wanted to salvage the piping?

MaryK, I know what you mean about the petite being short in the body. I like both too! But I really only need one.

Kellygirl, I asked about altering it at Nordstrom when I took some NAS stuff in and they said it would be $50! They wouldn't do it because of the piping, and I wouldn't have paid that much anyway. I might take it to another place across the street from my office just to see about the cost. I just worry that I might not wear it as much if the sleeves are too long and I have to wear it rolled/scrunched.

The gray one looks great with the sleeves scrunched. I wear most of my jackets with the sleeves scrunched. I agree with Kelly the petite size would look good with skirts. Is the jacket comfortable?

First of all, good going with the cobalt blazer. It loves you!

I prefer the petite size. I don't think it works to "have" to scrunch the sleeves. You want to be able to wear it sleeves down too, when it gets cold, or when you want to look more professional. I can't imagine being in an important business meeting or presentation with scrunched sleeves. A brainstorming session with your peers yes, but not a look when you're with upper management.

Of course I have no idea what your job is, if it's a casual work environment, then scrunch away!

If you have to chose, I prefer the regular size. I think the jacket might be more versatile if you can wear it with full length sleeves as well as scrunched, and the petite sleeves are only 3/4 when unscrunched. If $ is not an issue, why not keep all 3?!?

Not much help here, because I like all of them. Though, I understand your concern about cost being too high for the altering you need. I'm petite and I'd have included alteration in the price and if it was too high, well, then drop it. You need only one blazer, so go with the cobalt or navy. If #2 with piping would be too expensive to alter, let it go. Or you could remove the piping of the sleeves - that way alteration would be less expensive

Reneeb, the jacket is *very* comfortable. It's a knit jacket and the material is soft, but it's still structured which I love.

Cocolion, thanks for the compliment on the cobalt jacket. I can't wait to wear it! I agree about the sleeves, which is my main hesitation with the regular size. Im a physician and its a business casual environment so scrunched would probably be ok but I want to be able to wear it both ways.

Lyn D, the sleeves of the petite are actually normal length hitting just at the wrist. I think the sleeves had slid down with the side view. I can afford all three, but it would triple my blazer collection I have one right now that is more of a BF style and not worn much. I just don't know how much I would wear them yet.

Harmonica, I will look into the cost of altering with and without the piping to see. I do love the piping though ...

Thanks for the info. It's a great jacket--I would have bought it myself if the sleeves weren't so long. If scrunching doesn't bother you, I'd definitely keep it.

I can't tell if the sleeve lengths are too long or too short, because you have them scrunched on one arm (you do, don't you?) and the other arm is up holding the camera. I may be totally wrong here, but it seems to me that the petite sleeve length is not long enough? Sleeves should cover your wrists (just past the wrist bone)... at least, I think...

Too long for me is when they go down to my knuckles or even past my fingertips. Which is what happens with regulars!

I think the petite looks nice. No alterations needed and you can scrunch when the urge strikes.

Shiny, the sleeves on the petite hit just past the wrist so I think the length is right. It's just that I have them scrunched.

There's votes for both jackets, so that doesn't help me much ;-P
I still have time to play around with them and try styling them. Thanks again for all the suggestions and comments!
